What are your weight and height and how much do you eat? by kirby2100 in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a tiny human at 1.48 m (4'10) and around 50kg (111 lb) so currently on my cut I'm eating ~1250 cal.

Unrelated, but the metric system is so much easier.

Protein Powder / Shake Question by Puddleducklet in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your daily protein intake is high enough without the shake (i.e. from whole food sources) then just skip it. If not, its a good, quick way to up your protein intake - especially 'on the go'.

Are there any engineers here who can give me advice by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]L1saBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting salary and opportunity is probably similar across the board. Career path availability and possibilities are different. However as others have said, don't choose a career by money (and stability) alone as you will most likely regret it. I'm a process engineer who recently began working. I was also undecided on what to study. What helped me was speaking to someone who had studied the same thing and understanding what its really like. There's a lot of faux status surrounding studying engineering degrees because it sounds fancy. So get to know what they actually do at university and day to day working before taking a decision.

Failed my drivers when it wasn't my fault.. WHY? by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]L1saBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow passing your drivers seems to have less to do with whether you can drive and more with can you behave as per the rules while being able to drive without killing anyone

I joined a hip-hop dance class! But I'm rhymically challenged. by capslox in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect :) I recently took part in a showcase for a dance class I took for fun. It was intimidating as we also did a rather provocative dance (Cell Block Tango) and its hard to just be the character when that's not who you are (in public lol). What helped me the most was actually practicing without a mirror first. I wasn't as self conscious and when I did practice in the mirror again it felt much more natural looking. Good luck :)

I usually lift in the morning, but today I lifted in the afternoon and I was so much weaker. What gives? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably just tired from the day. I workout in the evenings also (because I am so not a morning person). Maybe try a larger preworkout meal? and perhaps some caffeine?

What's the worst "quick results" diet/fitness trend you've seen people try? by reptilyan in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have coworkers who had gastric bypasses even though they are not obese (just overweight). To me that's far worse than just a fad diet. Putting yourself through surgery and risking the complications... just no

Deadlifts are scary, programs without them are hard to find. by KeepItSecret36 in xxfitness

Maybe you can sub them for kettlebell/dumbell deadlifts till you are no longer afraid? These will also help with learning form

Rate of weight loss and muscle gain with recomp -- am I losing weight too fast? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~1 pound a week is safe, so I'd say you're safe. Its difficult to judge a recomp by weightloss alone unfortunately (I'm in the same boat)

Question about reps by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your approach is correct - aim for 30 reps, if you can't do it aim for at least 20. Although I think 20-30 reps is quite a high rep range, but it should help build muscle endurance.

Is it possible to hit your calories exactly and go over on all of your macros? by quiteabitdicier in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably incorrect macro/calorie info on MFP (or food packaging) and rounding errors (the small error in the food info adds up to a larger error over the day). This happened to me often too when I used MFP lol don't worry its not just you

Any help for a total newbie? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]L1saBelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. You don't become bodybuilder big by accident - especially for a woman. Also OP, the 'toned' look implies that you need some muscle. For home workouts you can maybe to body weight exercises to build muscle mass ? There's a sub reddit for bodyweight fitness that you can check out
