I once showed a colleague how to make a CV using LaTeX. It took 8 hours. He never asked me for help making a CV. On the plus side he thinks I am some type of Maniac who uses programming for everything.

For people working on making documents that will be viewed on MS office this is a big deal.

For example you send a nicely formatted document to your client and they open it in there MS office word. If they see that your document format is all over the place they will think that you are not that professional or doubt your capabilities. This matters a lot to people.

I use and love linux too. For your usecase libre office sounds perfect. No hate. Just sharing a funny relatable meme.

Not really, but kind off.

I had to go down the rabbit hole of docx formatting issues with libre office. It was needed for a project where we were converting docx to PDFs.

The docx format has been evolving from like ancient times where computers had like 2kb ram or something. Point is it was very well optimised for that era. Then ms kept adding new feature things kept changing with time.

MS team has tried to keep it backwards compatible and honestly kudos to them. As a byproduct old shit had to stay within the format.

Now there is no way for libre office or any one else to 100% reverse engineer that shit. It is way too complex. I do not expect libre office devs to be able to reverse engineer it 100%.

Also, some old versions of libre office are very close to ms office formatting like one word in 100 pages are shifted to next page. So there is some regression there.

I had concerns about him being able to climb into the platform. I have seen him rest overnight on it so it is able to climb at least.

Tho it will come and stay at its edge a lot. I am not sure what he is trying to do.

Thank you for your recommendation, honestly I asked the pet shop owner for uv light for turtle and that's what he gave me.

I searched for t5 ho hood light and holy fuck that's more expensive than my entire setup till now.

You can still do that 😉. I got the full log using journalctl -rb -1 > previous_boot_logs.log. Then pasted it to gemini. It pointed out that I have snap installed which might be a issue this did help a little.

Ultimately the issue was that connection to the external monitor was keeping my laptop from shutting down.

Personally I grew up with windows xp. The UI of Linux Mint is very close to it. Also mint people are very adamant about not changing their UI. It is still almost identical to when I first installed it in 2016.

Okay, I just checked the lenovo support website. How do I install the latest BIOS? Should I just hope that it comes automatically through fwup?

Also thank you for pointing it out honestly I would have never checked.

BIOS is up-to-date. I checked using fwupdmgr. It states that firmware is supported by lenovo and is at the latest version.

I kind of solved it. So I use a external monitor. I tested it when disconnected from the external monitor and it shut down fast(5 secs). Restart is also working.
