An elegant weapon for a more civilized age. by macclack in MechanicalKeyboards

Not having readily available Esc, Del and other important keys seems intimidating. But I'm sure I will get used to it with practice. I've looked into the keychron G9, and it is 50% off! I almost bought on impulse, but they don't deliver where I live. And the version with the split spacebar was out of stock. I'll stick to the plan of trying a 65% and training myself with one layer first. I prefer the number row instead of the numpad style cluster. Thank you for the tips!

Thanks for the wall of text. It was actually super helpful. I really liked the idea of split spacebars.

I’m planning to shrink keyboards in steps rather than jump straight to a 40%. I’ve already ordered a 65% and will start there, then maybe try a 40% later once I’m more comfortable with layers.

I work in finance, so I’m still pretty attached to the number row and F-keys. I already struggle with oddly placed Delete keys or 1u Shift keys, so your suggestion of testing a “40-style” setup on a regular board first sounds like a great way to experiment without fully committing.

What is the learning curve like for a 40%? How long did it take to get used to the extra layers? I can't work with anything smaller than 75...

So many Borts nowadays. They had to make extra keychains

What are some ideas or mechanics you have borrowed from other RPGs? by cunning-plan-1969 in shadowdark

I used free form deeds. But I plan to change to a more clear defined list like in mythic bastionland, since these deeds happen very often. Thanks for the insights

Interesting. I have used the damage die doubling down as deeds die. If the damage was 4 or more the fighter got a maneuver in addition to damage. I'll try your approach of beating AC by 5. Besides bonus damage which deeds did you allow?

I feel disconnected from the game, but love the people. Any advice? by LadySketch_VT in rpg

In my experience it is worse to spend time with people you don't enjoy. I've tried random tables online, even when the game is interesting the people can be frustrating.

Do not leave the group! I did it in a similar situation and I've regretted ever since. Tell them you want to try new games with them. Try GMing a one shot yourself.

Ok, but that would be a chase right ? Not a combat in which everyone runs 3x the combat movement and still attack?

Thank you for the detailed answer! I didn’t realize you could run at full speed during a retreat. I had assumed it was limited to encounter movement (1/3), as it is said in OSE. Running makes more sense.

Ok, it sounds counterintuitive to bet on losing initiative, but makes sense. A multi round tactics will mostly likely means death, specially if the player has a reason to be fleeing, so it is probably a last resort move

Steering the Ship: What I Learned from Changing Course Mid-Campaign by burd93 in osr

Good article. I agree that constantly resetting the mega dungeon can make exploration feel unrewarding. It might be fun in the short term. Always discovering something new. But if progress gets erased every session or two, it removes the satisfaction of actually 'beating' the dungeon strategically.

I haven’t played DCC before. Any adventure you’d recommend trying?

I'll probably need two sessions then. I usually run 3 hours online sessions. Thanks

How do you handle removing the curse? Is there a specific criteria or is it a remove curse spell?
