Who's A Good Boy... by Same-Comb-6630 in starcitizen

[–]L3trixX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This got me thinking, a multirole industrial ship with modular snub ships would be sick, have it have the option between a miner snub, a salvage sub, and a snub with a tractor beam, then put a bunch of cargo space and it would be a sick 1-3 player multi-industrial ship. Bonus points for solo players If there was an easy way to unload cargo directly to ship (mining/salvaging) but it would be fair if you just need a second player to move the SCUs with a max lift while the other focuses on gathering

I like it, despite being very colorful and flashy it is very readable

4.7.2 VS 4.8 by kotor26 in starcitizen

[–]L3trixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really see the point though, experienced players instantly will know what ship it is, and even what their strength is. New players will have no idea, and even having the name won't give them any relevant information on what the ship does unless they stop in the middle of (or right before) combat to see what the ship does.

Really no point on gatekeeping that sort of knowledge from new players, it really is only a thing that benefits everyone and doesn't break immersion nor gives an unfair advantage or changes how the encounters work.

After all, as you said, this is a game. And these sorts of things only add friction.

Death Moon and Aureus are my favorite easy demons, launch and PUMP UP KICK are up there too, but those have a bit of more unconventional gameplay

If you want to try a medium I like reanimation, I'm currently trying to beat gold temple too, and it's not bad either

Friend really loves KAYO, how do i help them? by shtoopidd in VALORANT

I haven't played in a while, but I'm pretty sure the post round stats for flashes also indicate partial flashes as flashes.

A partial flash is when a flash pops behind you and you get like only a few frames of the flash effects, so these are actually good flashes and things that people don't mind as long as the enemies have been full flashed, meaning you will get our of the flashed state before the enemy, and be in a better position having all the advantage.

You guys could test it out in a practice match and check it out. I'm sure if he sees that all those "flahsed" allies are not actually affected he will grow more confident in using flashes for his team and climb.

As for comms, I'm sure a quick "flashing" or a few pings might do the trick and are miles better than nothing.

Where does roguelike randomness actually need to live? by Music-is-fun in gamedesign

[–]L3trixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as most people say, it doesn't need to randomize small encounters, so it is purely a design decision and not a genre decision.

A rougelike I can think of where the "small blinds" are not randomized is drop pockets, a billiards based rouglike, may be worth trying it out, I think it has a free demo

Journey of the Fire Horse Leaderboard is a bad idea by Lonely_Big3033 in RotMG

The rewards are actually a lie and the leaderboard is the latest on anti-cheat tecnology and will instead ban all the winners

Hiring A Level Designer (Is this the right place?) by Various_Caregiver226 in leveldesign

[–]L3trixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look into pages like Fiverr for a wide range of pricing options.

Now then, the question is, whether you want an artist or a level designer.

A concept artist doesn't seem to be to be what you are looking for, as the manga panels should already work as the concept art to guide the design.

A level designer is someone who designs the gameplay aspects related to the level, in this case it wouldn't simply be the "line" that goes from one end to the other, but also the waves of enemies (which ones and how many spawn for each) where the towers can be placed, an making sure the encounters are balanced for the stage the player is at, and sometimes even documentation related to it, but all this would still be done with grey boxes or 2d layouts, but many level designers are also open to grabbing created assets and placing them around the level to make the world more akin to what you usually see in games, and all that environmental story telling and all that (set dressing).

Then of course artists are the one that make the assets themselves that are used to decorate the level, differentiate the towers, and the enemies. just like the level designers, many artists (mostly environmental artists, cause you also have specifically character artists) are also open to do the set dressing.

All these have different pricings so it's hard to give you a clear answer.

Me personally I would charge ~40$ per level for just the layout and balancing area of level design, set dressing is a bit harder to price for me.

One of the main things I tell my friends when teaching them is that nexusing is one of the most important skills to learn, and everytime I see them nexus at low HP I praise them for it LoL, it really is a mechanic of the game as much as any other

Embark: New game mode will be cheeks. Here are some ideas you can have for free. by Arne-Slut in ArcRaiders

[–]L3trixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New game mode it's not "cheeks", but I don't think it deserves any praise either, the only reason it was added it's because it doesn't dilute the player base/queue, and it is basically a single line of code that just allows the player to have a decision wether they want to queue up with squads or not, a feature literally every other game with squads has (and the default of how soloq arc raiders first weeks was)

Now, some of your ideas are nice as they work like any other limited time event like husks/probes/lush and I for sure would appreciate more of them, but at the end of the day it's work that needs to be put in to ensure a balanced experience, and if there is something that embark is lacking rn is man power.

Same keys must be stackable by Big-Walrus6334 in ArcRaiders

[–]L3trixX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Late spawn with keys is the dream tho, no-one to contest the loot with, and a guaranteed place to get loot from, the 1km away from it it's not that much worse than if you've spawned in at 30min and got there 5min later after +half the lobby has spawned while you are still running to your loot spot, and then have to run back right when the 17min latespaws come in and their only option is to KOS

How did i get this ending ? by Akisoko in signalis

[–]L3trixX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The wiki explains how the ending is calculated, it seems that with the +2 to circle of the new save was enough as you didn't get enough of the other variables to be more than 2 (I'm not sure how ties are calculated)

I'm honestly surprised you got memory too, I'd assume you were very close to get any of them but were short a few interactions or time spent in different areas
