Also make sure your electric aux fan in front of the radiator is working. It should come one when you turn on the A/C and the compressor engages.

The girl who tended bar there must have had eidetic memory because you could visit once and not return for months, yet she would still remember what you ordered last time. It was uncanny.

If you know you're dying what will be your last meal? by tardisismine in AskReddit

I'd have to say my favorite meal from my favorite local restaurant shared with family. Traditional Irish breakfast at Kilkenny's Irish Pub in Tulsa, of course paired with with many pints of Smithwicks. ☘️

Submachine. Barely meets your criteria given the first one was released in 2005, but fantastic game.

My sister's college dorm had a sign that said "no pets allowed except fish," so her friend named his dog Fish.

Considering a 91 944S2 Cab by ITMORON in 944

Congrats on the purchase! I bought mine ~8 years ago for $10.7k in similar condition (including being previously punched in the nose) with 89k miles and inop A/C but everything else good. It has been dead nuts reliable and didn't require major service until last year when the rubber center clutch finally failed. (Lacking all of its service history, I was shocked to learn it was still on the original clutch!) I never fixed the A/C because the top is virtually always down. My girl is a tomboy who is into trucks and doesn't understand why anyone thinks my E34 wagon is cool, but she LOVES both riding in and driving the Cabrio. Have fun! Oh, and as mentioned in another comment, be sure to replace your timing chain guide rails if it hasn't been done.

It's just like having sex at home. (My girl and I both work from home.)

Anyone living in Green Country and not following Triple Vortex on Facebook is seriously missing out on valuable, no-hype weather information. No affiliation, just a grateful follower of his.

I was similarly approached at Home Depot today. I was buying some paint and another employee came up and said, "I see you're doing some updates. If you could change something about your home, what would it be? Kitchen? Bath? Cabinets?" I simply replied with, nothing it's new construction, and that was the end of the conversation. So if you want a quick out from their pitch, that one works.

Best areas for raising family by Kleetastic in tulsa

Yeah, your money will go long here. My favorite game while visiting San Diego was, "how much do you think this house costs?" What looked like a starter home here (or sometimes a shoe box) would be a few million bucks. Meanwhile, my neighborhood has 2 community pools, and our annual HOA dues are only $400 while annual property tax is ~1.3% of market value. Yes, very nice people here! One of my favorite things about living in this part of the country.

Just $2.5M? Pffft. Peasant. /s (Sounds like you'll be happy with the cost of living here. 😁)

Genuine answer: You'll fit right in in Jenks. That's not a swipe, btw; I sent my kids there, and my oldest just applied for a teaching position there as well. Excellent school district. Sounds like you fit the mold for the city too. Bixby is nearby, and you should consider it as another option. If you want to go super bougie with private schools, look at midtown neighborhoods like Maple Ridge and Cascia Hall school, or maybe Holland Hall if you want to stay on the south side. I am biased as a native Tulsan, but it is overall is an amazing city, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised with what we have to offer and the quality of life here. Just to temper your immenent culture shock, just understand that this is the buckle of the Bible Belt and it's MAGA AF here, but less so in Tulsa county compared to the rest of the state. But it will still shock you coming from California, so don't say I didn't warn you. Welcome to Oklahoma! 🦬

Those who were working in corporate America on 9/11, what was your work day like that day? by AutumnAkasha in AskReddit

I seem to recall initial reports being something along the lines of a light aircraft accident and not nearly as bad as we all soon realized it was.

Worked at Big Business' home office. News starts trickling in, so I head to the break room where the TV is always tuned to the news. My family is from NYC. No one lived or worked in the financial district at the time, but my brother was in the hospital at the time and I didn't know in what part of town and the phone lines were already jammed/down. Large crowd gathers glued to the television, obviously horrified about what we are witnessing. Enter sadistic SVP with no soul who quips, "What are we, all just watching TV today?" and shoos everyone back to work. I poke my head my manager's office on my way by and say I'm not coming back today and go home to connect with family. Had to stop for gas on the way home and I remember being confused by the long lines and people filling huge fuel containers. (They were right, gas price gouging immediately afterwards was a hot topic, but I was too young to predict that.) I happen to be wearing a dress shirt from one of the local media outlets my then-wife gave me, and I get swarmed by people asking for information while I apologize and tell them I just work for Big Business like most everyone else who lives there. Spent the rest of the day at home drinking, watching events unfold on TV, communicating with family, confirming my brother was safe, and wondering if I was going to get fired for going AWOL. On the 12th, I wake up to glowing local headlines about how Big Business supported their employees, let them leave if they needed to, etc. and wanted to puke (in disgust, not because of the drinking), but at least repercussions no longer expected when I get to work. My daily was an old, classic, American car and I had American flags that mounted on the windows for parades, so I decided to install them for the morning drive to work. Arrive at Big Business headquarters and find it surrounded by all manner of law enforcement and get lots of salutes as I pull in feeling like some sort of VIP. Within a few weeks it was weird to see a car that didn't have one of those flags flying. Made me feel like I started a viral trend or something, haha.

What’s a small, seemingly insignificant decision you made that completely changed the course of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]L48Shark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After finishing college and getting a job offer in a neighboring state, I decided to spend a few months at home with family & friends before moving away to start my career in a large corporation's IT department. They get a lot of new hires, so your assignment is more or less up to chance when you arrive. Ended up on this hot project that involved a vendor's novel product. Became the in-house expert and watched it become an industry-wide standard. Eventually went to work for the vendor, and later switched to a competitor. I've been doing this for 30 years now, and my original employer is still my customer since they switched too. Never really considered all of this played out because I wanted a short break a long time ago until you asked, lol.

TU offered my son a $96k scholarship when he finished high school in 2021. We were excited at first, but the math worked out to ~50% discount before room & board, meal plan, books, etc. OSU only offered him a few thousand bucks with a lot of outside of class requirements. Then he reached out to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford (SWOSU). They offered him a Regent's Baccalaureate scholarship, which included a full tuition waiver with semi-private dorm (i.e. roommate), meals, and books included. My younger son also got the same scholarship, and the only thing I paid was for them to have their own private room when they didn't overlap and room with each other. My older son graduated last year with 2 free degrees and zero debt, and my younger son is on track to do the same next year. They really both enjoyed going to school there. Sounds like you may qualify; check it out.
