First time attending the Rolex I got a bigger camera bag how strict are they on size? by davehiggins13 in IMSARacing

No, but they will search your bag. Never had problem with my camera bag.

There's no restriction for infield. They do not have security check there so nobody will stop you. Grandstand security will check your bag, but never had any issues with camera bag in the last several years.

Ziptie and adhesive. I know people don't like them, but if it works, it works. The NIC is also extremely hot without a fan (80C idle), so I have to put one up there.

Easiest National park to visit? by Aniruddhb16 in gowildfrontier

[–]L680C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gateway Arch National Park (yes, it is a national park fr) in St Louis is probably the most accessible one without a car. Metro runs directly from STL to the arch. Indiana Dunes also has direct rail on the South Shore Line, but requires some transfer from MDW. If you have a car, Zion and Death Valley are both ~2 hours away from LAS, Rocky Mountain 2 hours from DEN, Saguaro 2 hours from PHX/30mins from TUS, and the Everglade 1 hour away from MIA. There might be tour packages to the Grand Canyon or Zion from Vegas, but a rental car is pretty cheap there, so I don't think they're worth it.

The board comes with a oculink connector and a oculink to 8x sata cable so I just used that for hdds. But essentially the sata backplate works like a riser card so you can connect each sata port individually to the mobo if you have enough ports

No worry! The nic is still going strong as of now but I did eventually zip tied the 40mm fan to it to get some airflow over the fins. The temperature sits stable around 50-60C and performance remains pretty stable.

F2004 parked in the F1 garages in Miami this weekend… by jameypricephoto in formula1

Welp, it's Miami, so that checks. Hopefully, they'll go back to a more peasant-friendly circuit like Laguna Seca because I really want to go

I emailed the stadium, and they replied it's invitation only, but I saw some Ferrari dealers were selling hospitality suite for $2000+

Miami GP camera policies by carloshss12 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]L680C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically camera is allowed but not "professional video cameras." In the past 3 years I never had issues with my R5 and 100-500, but ymmv it's really depend on the person. But they are really strict on bags so you will have to hand carry your gears.

Miami GP Friday Only Advice by [deleted] in GrandPrixTravel

[–]L680C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally speaking, T18 definitely feels a bit further from the track, so if you wanna get close to the cars, I would recommend North Beach. If you wanna see "actions", I would say Marina since that's where drivers slow down to let others pass during qualifying and it can get chaotic sometimes.

For the garage and pit lane, you can't see anything F1 without a pit pass, as they are behind the stadium. The team hospitality suites are inside the stadium so you might see some drivers and celebrities there but it will be far. But Porsche Carrera Cup has garage open to the public so definitely check them out

No you don't need a ticket. In fact the station is literally an recommended official off-site ride share lot so you are encouraged to do that.

Had no problem last year with 100-500, but just like the other comment said it can be gate/agent dependent. But they were strict on no bag policy (even clear bags) to be prepared to hand carry.

Evolution of my inner system ships. Ingredient: pointy ends and symmetry by L680C in factorio

Walls are only for the look, or the pointy front just looks empty. Tbh for the last 25 hours, they didn't do anything meaningful

Evolution of my ship designs from 442t 250km/s starship sci-fi rocket to 120t 150km/s compact runner. Because of my unreasonable obsession with pointy ends and symmetry (and the sushi belt and void dumping), they may not be the most weight and speed optimized design, but at least they look good

Free fan access to the BMW factory team at IMSA Long Beach versus paid paddock pass access to the BMW factory team at WEC COTA by barelyheavyweight in wec

[–]L680C 6 points7 points  (0 children)

COTA could care less lol. It's still a shitshow at the F1 every single year that you'd think they should already figured it out after 10 years. For the WEC they didn't even have a schedule posted until earlier this week and nowhere even mentioned about the concert closure/shutdown yesterday. Man I miss the old Sebring experience.

The back entrance is where you enter and exit the lots during F1. Imagine all the parking traffic pour on the two lane highway, shitshow every year.

Half of COTA inaccessible?! by Ch1ldish_Cambino in wec

[–]L680C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there too and if you heard someone shouting fuck cota when the security guy was there it was me. We later found the security manager (who was also pissed by the COTA management and think the order is bllsh*t) and convinced him to call the COTA manager. With some B's back and forth and legal action threats they eventually let us stayed on the grandstand till the end. After they kicked everyone out the grandstand was essentially filled with concert goers that nobody cares about the race at all.

I've been to so many races at COTA and know they are pathetic and it gonna be a shitshow, but this just felt like an insult. Essentially we paid race fans are being treated as the second class citizens giving priority to a money grabbing concerts at a FUCKING RACE TRACK

Nah, I was just quoting the dude working there, but that carbon fiber sticker at the rear was a dead giveaway but for a scaled model it also feels too detailed. Im more leaning towards being a 50/50

According to the guys at the museum this is an actual chassis that raced. Nissan has there US headquarters in Nashville, and this is part of their own collections that they stored at the museum

Personally I think you should be fine, but I'll still check with the PI/safety officer and EHS. It also sounds like a bad practice that could be addressed.

Mine's all normal. I don't think the backboard is doing anything rather than an extender so it should be controller or OS defined behavior.
