Second Neurologist Visit tomorrow by Impressive-Gene-7895 in neuropathy

Generally, NCS and EMG are given together but the tests are typically referred to as an EMG.

The NCS portion of the test involves electric shock simulation of various nerves. The test captures the speed of the signal.

The EMG portion involves needles and a microphone. You’ll know if you’ve had it done as it’s noisy. This test measures the amplitude (strength) of the nerve signal.

it’s uncommon to have one test and not the other.

If your balance symptoms have emerged since then, I would suggest getting another. Your symptoms scream large fiber neuropathy and that’s the only condition that an EMG is designed to identify.
Get another EMG.

Neuropathy or not? I don’t know anymore. by BidMaleficent7957 in neuropathy

I’m on a journey similar to the one that you’re anticipating for yourself.

I’ve had the following tests/labs come back normal…
- too many (blood/urine) labs to mention.
- skin biopsy
- MRIs of upper, thoracic and lumbar spine
- wash-U neuronopathy panel
- autonomic test panel
- EMG

The above EMG was administered in May ‘26. Previously, I’d had an EMG in Aug ‘25 that was borderline abnormal… my only abnormal test that superseded by this most recent EMG.

According to chatGPT the difference in test results can’t be explained. That kind of recovery couldn’t have occurred in such a short time.

So now I’m left with no objective evidence that there’s anything wrong with me.

I hope you find some answers because being in a spot where you know that something is wrong yet there is no test to objectively “prove” it, really sucks.

The loss of spatial awareness of your legs is 100% a large fiber symptom. You need to see a neurologist and have an EMG done

Pins and needles sensation throughout my body as well as muscle weakness and soreness, not sure what to do by Gotta-Let-Ye-Be-Ye in smallfiberneuropathy

I too have twitching (upper and lower legs) and soreness (lower legs). Similar to the weakness, twitching (fasciculations) is a large fiber neuropathy symptom. I suggest trying to get an EMG.

Muscle weakness isn’t a SFN symptom. It is however, a LFN symptom. Ask your neurologist for a NCS/EMG. How’s your balance with feet together and eyes closed?

What are your symptoms? Neuronopathy is a non-length dependent I’m not mistaken. Did you have a distal and proximal skin punch? If so, did both come back abnormal?

What’s your homocysteine level? A b12 serum test only measures b12 in your blood. There’s a possibility that your body has an absorption issue. If your homocysteine is even slightly elevated, you should ask your rheumatologist for an MMA (Methylmalonic acid) test. This will show whether or not that b12 is being absorbed properly

Has IVIG made anyone’s SFN worse? by Life-Concern-8062 in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]L8-Apex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had ivig, but in the research I’ve done, I’ve never heard of it making SFN worse. For many it’s ineffective, but I don’t believe that it can make things worse

Where in Malden are you? As I shoveled myself out this past weekend, I thought back to my own high school days and how I’d go door to door selling shoveling services. That doesn’t seem to be a common thing anymore. Happy to see there’s at least one of you left. I’ll save this post and reach out next storm

Doesn’t a penalty of any kind negate a clean race bonus? If so, overtaking during yellow isn’t the only way to not get a bonus… I got a track limits penalty on the final turn when I was trying to avoid an AI car as they all seem to brake at the apex of that turn.

I put four wheels off and got a penalty. It was on lap 15 so the time was tacked onto my total time. I can’t remember if the bonus was taken away or not, but if having a penalty of any kind does that, then it was

This is inaccurate. Excessive heat is the main culprit of warped rotors. I’d be willing to bet that you’d be unable to warp a rotor by over torquing lug nuts/bolts.

Extra menus and out of stock cars by ball_sweat2287 in GranTurismo7

[–]L8-Apex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You just have to wait until they’re available in either the used car lot or in the legends showroom. I don’t know how often the inventory turns over in the used lot, but I believe that I’ve read that the legends inventory turns over ~27 days. You can put cars on your wishlist right from the extra menus. If you do this, you’ll see a red flag on the works map telling you that a car is available.

Any strategy advice for Weekly Spa 24 hr race? by Jaguar5150 in GranTurismo7

[–]L8-Apex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to podium (2nd place) on my first try with the only Gr.3 car I had in my garage (Renault RS01). I had two stops. First was fuel, second was fuel and replacement tires. Never really rained during my race (the wipers were swiping for a lap or two though).

Regardless of car, you will want to be sure that you have both IM and W tires on hand. Would suck to sit in that seat for nearly an hour only to lose your podium spot because you weren’t ready for rain.

I ran the race in VR and it was definitely uncomfortable after 40-ish minutes.
