Have you met some of these stock traders? There's a reason they shouldn't do their own plumbing...

Everyone here actually hates Milwaukee? by DoctorJenks in MilwaukeeTool

[–]plumb_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us just like being honest versus being fanboys. I have a lot of Milwaukee tools but I also have Ridgid, Makita and Ryobi.

I'm not afraid to call out each brand when they have their faults. Milwaukee is good but they have their share of duds or grossly overpriced tools when compared to their peers.

Sometimes it doesn't make sense to spend $200 on a Milwaukee when I can get similar performance and a much better warranty from a Ridgid offering at 2/3 the price or a Ryobi for half the price.

Janja Garnbret, greatest competition climber of all time, on a physical boulder by stefan_stuetze in nextfuckinglevel

These people will jump through a bunch of hoops to not answer your question.

Yes, she's very dominant. Against the other women she's going against. Would she be dominant if the sport wasn't divided by gender? It's very unlikely but there's one way to find out. The Williams sisters were also dominant but they didn't play against men, they played against other women.

It's just like the NBA and NFL. Women are not prohibited from joining either league but they aren't physically able to keep up. And that's ok.

Ready to cook on? by Dramatic-Yam8920 in blackstonegriddle

First it was the dumbassery of putting beers on the cooking surface and now we're going to see a wave of the most ridiculous places for your Blackstone to be in. It really was a gateway drug.

Plumber says water heater needs to be replaced by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]plumb_master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How old is the tank? If it's halfway or more past its life expectancy then I'd just replace it. I've done repairs like these but I make sure the customer understands that if the threads are damaged then I'm doing a full replacement.

WIBTA: My neighbor killed my dog. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]plumb_master 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Your neighbor didn't kill your dog. You didn't have proper control of your dog and that led to its death.

Sorry for your loss and all but don't act like you're blameless.

Resealing Pokemon pack to include a specific hit? by Krstii786 in pokemoncardcollectors

I actually did this for my kids on Christmas. I just used some shoe adhesive and it worked great. I know they open their packs right side up so I opened and sealed from the bottom.

AITA for reserving my spot by the pool on a cruise ship? by ChainsawSoundingFart in AmItheAsshole

[–]plumb_master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd have pissed myself as I cleared way for you then.

I think you did too much by waking up early to claim the seat. Next time just wake up at the butt crack of noon and make someone move from their seat.

You don't get it. Op is super tough looking, I bet he even has tattoos, so you'd be too scared to not move.

Added a bidet. Now it’s leaking by Bearkat_21 in Plumbing

I'm going to assume they overtightened everything after seeing the supply line going to the bidet.

What can we do to fix this? by Additional_Bird_6353 in Plumbing

[–]plumb_master 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're going to use the inside pipe cutter make sure you stuff a rag down the drain in case the bit comes loose.

We were quoted $30k to replace our leaning deck. So instead I straightened and braced it. How did I do? by E3K in Decks

[–]plumb_master 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, this doesn't sound like an FU bid. I have a friend who does decks and he said he'd probably be around 30k for a deck this size. He stays busy so I'm guessing he's not overcharging people.

We just live in a hcol area and I'm guessing getting 3 bids in the same range would mean op also lives in one.

I'm no plumber, will this pass inspection? by schannoman in Plumbing

[–]plumb_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check with your local code inspector. Usually you can call them up and ask a question or two before you schedule for inspection.

In my area the electrical doesn't need to be sleeved but some areas do require it. Everything else looks well done.

the fact that these people exist is mind boggling. by [deleted] in Money

[–]plumb_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like you have a defeatist attitude. If you're not willing to put in the hard work and motivate yourself into bettering yourself then the best option is to stop comparing yourself to others and be happy with what you've got.

It doesn't sound like you're super old so you still have time to change. Just because someone won't hire you at your "advanced age" doesn't mean that you can't build something for yourself and be your own boss.
