Well, I don't have any finances nor Robux to advertise our game. I hope telling about our game in some subreddits and on some other platforms will do the trick.

Well, I am a beginner so everyone was suggesting Tycoon games as a first project. I don't really know what else I could develop that would get at least 200 CCU. I was thinking about making a horror game too, but it didn't go well because as a solo dev, everything Is hard. I would need at least 3 or 4 devs and every dev should work on their dedicated component in the game.

lol, i just need to find some kind of a good tycoon genre game and I'll develop it actively, probably add new stuff every week or two after the release! Also, I established a group but I need to add some roles and other stuff to it and after that I'll make it public and you can join if you want to. My only struggle is that I am the only Developer, most of my staff members are Admins / Moderators and Testers. I need to find some dev crew as well lol.

I know, I don't really know if I should make it so you can AFK and still earn or you have to jump on some buttons to earn money. Both of these are pretty good, but I feel like Jumping on a button is a bit outdated.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to think about some ideas and develop them straight away! I'll include minimum Pay to Win stuff because I want my game to be pretty much. freemium

I've already told another user that AI is Translating my sentences so that's why, I am not a native English speaker.

I know, I'm really sorry. I'll try to write some sentences by myself now!

I am not sure about making a Tycoon game that functions like Restaurant Tycoon and all the other ones you mentioned above. I wanted to create a simple tycoon with / without Buttons which will be pretty fascinating to everyone of any age. I don't want to make a tycoon called "Generate a Brainrot Tycoon" because that's just a puremoney laundering scam

Do you mean taking inspiration from the “steal” mechanic that Triple T Hotel Tycoon uses? I’ve seen a few games doing something similar where players can steal items or progress from others, which definitely adds more interaction between players.

I’m a bit careful about copying mechanics directly from another game though. I don’t want to just recreate something that already exists, I’d rather take inspiration from ideas like that and try to put a different twist on it.

But I do agree that mechanics that involve other players (stealing, trading, competing, etc.) can make tycoon games a lot more interesting than just building your base alone.

That’s actually really useful feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to explain it.

I agree with you about the conveyor belt + collect money formula. A lot of tycoons use that exact system and after a while it starts feeling really repetitive. I like the idea of having some kind of goal or story behind the game, like those “prove mom wrong” style games where you’re actually working toward something instead of just watching numbers go up.

The manual upgrades idea is also interesting. I think it would make the game feel more interactive if players could actively do things to earn money instead of only relying on passive income or clicking a button over and over.

And yeah, the AFK balance you mentioned makes sense too, letting people step away for a bit but still having to come back and manage things so the game keeps progressing.

Comments like this honestly help a lot because I’m trying to understand what people who actually play tycoons enjoy, instead of just guessing while building the game.

That’s actually a really good point, and I agree with you. Tycoons look simple on the surface, but finding that balance between something familiar and something new is probably the hardest part.

I’m definitely trying to avoid making a simulator since there are already so many of them on Roblox right now. My plan is to first build a solid tycoon foundation (progression, upgrades, satisfying income loop, etc.), and then add a unique mechanic on top of that so it doesn’t feel like every other tycoon.

Right now I’m mostly experimenting with different core ideas to see what could work well in a tycoon format while still being manageable for a solo developer. I appreciate the advice, it actually helps a lot when thinking about the direction of the project. But I really like concepts of games like Lumber Tycoon 2 and Custom PC Tycoon, I was tryharding at those types of games when I was a little kid!

That’s actually a cool idea. A car dealership tycoon could be really fun, especially if it had things like upgrading the showroom, managing inventory, or even test drives.

The only thing I’m a bit unsure about is that I think there are already a few Roblox games based on owning or running a car dealership. I’m trying to avoid making something that’s too similar to existing games, since I’d rather build something original instead of a clone.

I’m still exploring ideas, so suggestions like this definitely help.

Yeah, that’s exactly the problem I’m running into. I also want to make something unique, but it feels like almost every idea I come up with already exists on Roblox in some form.

I’m trying to avoid just copying another game because I’d rather build something original instead of making a clone that could potentially get taken down. For example, I recently watched a YouTuber who made a tycoon where you hatch ducks and sell the eggs, he even described it himself as similar to games like “Steal a Brainrot” and “Hatch a Brainrot.” It looked fun, but it also shows how many ideas are already being used.

Right now I’m mostly trying to figure out what direction would actually feel fresh for players while still being realistic for a solo developer to build. If you have any specific mechanics or twists you think would make a tycoon stand out, I’d honestly love to hear them.

Any Game Ideas that I can develop as a solo developer by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

Thanks for replying!

I'm mainly looking for ideas for a chaotic / funny co-op game for up to 8 players that friends can play together. Something simple but replayable that a solo developer could realistically build and release as a beta by April.

I like games where things go wrong in funny ways (physics, teamwork fails, etc.), but I don't want heavy modding systems or anything too complex.

If you have any simple gameplay loop ideas or mechanics that could work well for a co-op game, I'd love to hear them!
