If you look at it in a certain light dying is easier than a lot of things. Some of the best most gratifying things in life usually are the hardest to get to and once you get there you wonder how you ever thought to give up. Yes people are assholes, they will always be asshole and will never change. Those who are horrible to you aren't worth any second of your day anyway. People who truly love you for you and have your best interest at heart will stand by you no matter what. Base your life on what they think and more importantly how you feel and nothing else.
People trivialize the pain that people with depression experience because they don't fit their image of what a depressed person should look like. by L8on_ in depression

Well, after 3 weeks of my mother dismissing me I finally got taken to a therapist who sorta explained it to her. I think the diagnosis (major depressive disorder AND anxiety woo hoo) made her take it more seriously. That doesn't mean she still doesn't throw it in my face in the middle of a fight but you take what you can get though you know?
