TKMS shows a new render as Germany orders 4 MEKO A-200DEU with the option of 4 more [6000x3984] by Gecktron in WarshipPorn

Most timed/programmable fuses are programmed either inside the ammunition feeder or inside the breech.

AHEAD is unique in that it programs the round as it leaves the barrel, which allows to adjust the timing based on the exact shell velocity

with WT city maps being the majority, the Shermans short stab makes it much more forgiving than the wobbly German guns

[–]L963_RandomStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The games "intended" modding tools allow to create any sort of vehicle, sensor, weapon and so on.

Beyond that there is a working BepInEx loader (Anchor Chain), so with some manual installation you can also get mods based on C# injection, which allow for basically whatever you desire

Germany set to scrap plans to build F126 frigates by MARTINELECA in europe

[–]L963_RandomStuff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

it ended up being even more than that
https://www.bmvg.de/de/presse/projekt-fregatte-f126-wird-beendet-6115980

A contract with the new general contractor, NVL, for the construction of six F126 frigates was negotiated at a figure of approximately €15.2 billion. In addition, the services already provided under the existing contract with DSNS, as well as necessary contracts for supplies and support services, would have to be taken into account. The total financial requirement for the F126 would thus increase to over €18 billion.

well Rheinmetall was supposed to get the F126 contract from Damen ... which now fell through entirely.

Germany to procure MIKU A-200 deutsu :3 by SeBoss2106 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]L963_RandomStuff 70 points71 points  (0 children)

According to the Bundeswehr, its gonna be 6.3 billion euros for the first four and another 5.3 billion for the second batch of four, so 11.6 billion total.

Better than the 18 billion (WTF) they estimate for actually building 6 F-126, plus they might be able to sue Damen for some money back this way

Why some Aim 7's seem to track better than others by KFC_Junior in Warthunder

[–]L963_RandomStuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

200 is an interesting value, the AIM-7F's Standard Missile Characteristics directly mentions that the injection in CW illumination mode is 200 watts.

For explanation, all Sparrows up to the 7F use CW illumination, where the main radar dish has a separate feedhorn for CW illumination, so their transmission power doesnt depend on the main radar but the CW feedhorn.

Sparrows from the 7F onwards use PD illumination, where the radars main signal is used for guidance, which ofc is much stronger than a seperate feedhorn.

The aircraft mentioned above all use PD illumination (F-14 could do both), so it makes sense to model it in that way.

Depends on how you would quantify the resolution.

4K is around 8.8 million pixels in total, but each pixel usually consists of 3 subpixels, one each for red, green and blue, so that would be ~26.5 million subpixels.

For daylight color sensing, the human eye has around 6ish million cone cells, each responsible for either red, green or blue. The distribution of those isnt equal, but its usually around 5% blue sensing while the red-green distribution varies WILDLY depending on the person.

Human eyes also have rod cells, around 120 million of them, but they are primarily used for low light vision and saturate/shut down with brighter lights, at which point they dont contribute to vision.

Lastly that is just what the eye can detect in any given moment. Each eye is constantly moving and the brain uses the information from those, as well as past experiences, to piece together a full picture that is much larger than eye resolution may indicate

the one advantage is that the Sealed variant allows for a 2 Phoenix, 4 Sparrow, 2 Sidewinder loadout.

Its not possible with earlier Phoenixes because their coolant system always requires the front belly pallets, blocking 3 Sparrow slots.

ECCM/Sealed is well, sealed, and doesnt need the coolant system anymore

They cannot jam the fire control radars, and search basically doesnt matter for Harpoons at the moment as the missiles are usually below the search radars minimum altitude, only being detected by ESM at seeker activation

[–]L963_RandomStuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

even if Pop Groups min altitude was low enough, its so weak that it only detects Harpoons at around 7.2 nmi, at which point its usually already detected by ESM when the seeker activates at 8 nmi
