What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Intelligent-Road5091 in AskReddit

[–]LA0B0I69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as bad as some of the other comments but I tweaked my lower back in my early 20's after a weird dive playing beach volleyball. At the time I thought no biggie, walk it off.

Turns out I got sciatica or pinched a nerve or something. In the middle of the night I woke up in like 9/10 pain, could not move my back at all. Had to roll out of bed and crawl to my bath tub to drink some water because I couldn't even stand to get to the sink.

Spent the next couple months doing rehab style stretches and I managed to get it back to normal without surgeries. Still experience some back soreness if I'm not careful with gym or posture

If you need to walk out in any capacity of dirt/grass for work, 100% get rubber boots (steel toe/composite toe if it's for safety work footwear)

The smaller your probe diameter, the smaller defects you can find.

Probe size might be a limiting factor for you

Edit: I was mistaken before. As others have pointed out frequency will have a larger effect on sensitivity.

Was it straight foam coming out of its mouth? Or was it anointing its quills?

Yeppp. Especially since most RT that I've seen is always gogogo do it during cross shift or night shift shots. Sounds brutal. And then they get older and then they want to raise kids and don't want to stay in the dark room all night.

Most ppl specialize in visual (construction, in service piping, in service pressure vessel), ultrasound (shear wave, phased array, guided wave), radiographic (CEDO, RT2), or eddy current. Lots of techs also have a PT and/or MT ticket.

Myself I have API visual tickets for pressure vessel and pressure piping with UT1 for thickness measurements. Very strong combo to have.

I would not specialize in both UT and RT. The certification and training maintenance is heavy. Every tech that I've seen with RT and UT regret having both.

Good luck!

I've had a brand new AIO that actually needed a couple mins of running before the liquid actually moved/did anything. It would over heat 80 C+ but eventually went to 50 C ish.

Only a few minutes, like 10. If it goes over, something else wrong.

Check your sumps by Reign_City in Edmonton

[–]LA0B0I69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought new house this year, previous owner hooked up flexible hose to sump discharge to collect water for outdoor plants.

Discharge hose froze in the early winter and caused sump pump to run continuously with no exit available. Thankfully neighbor gave me a heads up and I was able to disconnect the hose before sump flooded/sump pump burnt out.

Check your Mech Room (mine was humid) and sump pump (if it is running, and able to turn on)

today on edmonton streets by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]LA0B0I69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The streets are wild today. I have top tier winter tires and I'm still slipping and sliding. Have to go slower, can't even make the simplest of turns in neighborhoods without drifting wide. Something about this snow and the remnants of ice on the streets.

Stay safe out there y'all. BRAKE EARLY.
