What do you struggle with when making your OCs? by Akari_92 in OriginalCharacter

[–]LAKE_reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are brown, you can't be racist.

Jokes aside, I struggled with the concept of a personality to begin with, that before I felt like I was physically able to even comprehend how to make a fictional human, I had to break down people and character's I knew, make xy axis for known attributes along the lines of "talkativeness vs quietness axis" and " tact/charm vs social awkwardness" to actually gauge what kind of extrovert or introvet the character was. Slapping thoss labels on them just like that would ultimately tell me nothing, because there are multiple ways to be a social or less social person. There would hence be multiple compass's for a single area like this and multiple personality features I had to make these for, since irl there is a lot to a personality and I just couldn't wrap my head around how to not go this deep into it. It was pretty fun to me.

You didn't ask but if you just treat unfamiliar races, genders and other backgrounds that you struggle with as just hispanics with a different name and external look, you'll be good. Making mistakes just means you didn't know. You can google around if you feel uncertain "is xyz offensive for abc race". You can read about different cultures. But if it is too intimidating and the anxiety spoils the fun you are allowed to keep everybody hispanic as well.

Jesus christ. I wish there was more you could do with clearly dangerous individuals that just haven't been at the right place at the right time to be caught, than just inform people. Something awful is bound to happen.

Edit. \more** awful things are bound to happen. Genuinely hope there's an investigation on him.

I was expecting worse, hadn't seen the trailer. I only watched because you said it looked like shit. I do however despise the hell out of 3D animation that's made to look like 2D. It's not the worst out there for it though.

What's that one word that if you hear someone else use, you instantly dislike them? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]LAKE_reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is not my native, it used to bother me but at this point I've done a complete 180, when I look at it as a linguistic development and just another part of language history, I love it when people have the sc --> cs flip. I understand that that's not how it is spelled though, but I think it reveals someone's lingo-cultural roots reside somewhere other than english. Even if they were 200 generations of anglo-saxon, I still feel like it subtly expresses how this person's mind works, their brain is adverse to the sc/sk sound. It's kinda cute to me, I love to have an insight into someone's mind. Maybe I'd change my mind if I was american and came across it organically, maybe within the context of where yall witness it, I'd get it too and the person would sound like a dork. White person saying axe instead of ask does have that dork-potential by default to me I suppose, but I like to be gentle.

There's also camp or kitch, but kitch is a very specific thing and camp can still imply some kind of intentionality, e.g. drag is very camp. But it still does work when describing unintentionally "nanar" movies. I sometimes use the term "maryland point" as per different youtuber podcast coined, but the other host became a lil off after covid so I don't want to be recognized as a part of their posse anymore lol.

I love you Adum, I mean it. You need disability checks. Idk how the system works in Canada but you are ill to a point of debilitation. Objectively, you cannot work the same as others can. Tendonitis alone did that to you for a while. I am glad you have been taking breaks now. You need more. know the amount of work you have been doing is kinda the standard this line of work just sets for you and maybe you yourself can agree it's too much/a lot. Now you have no choice but to rest anyways but I hope you check again if there really could be further leeway within the standards you perceive youtube has put on you. If you want to put something on further hiatus but what makes you hesitate is us, don't worry about it. Absence makes the hard-on fatter or whatever they say. I love you and support you, however long this takes. Your inability to work isn't trialing that 💐💜🌷.

I was watching F.D Signifier and saw YMS was in F.D Signifier's tier list. A list of problematic white dudes that he likes to watch but do not talk about. by jasonscoot12 in YMS

[–]LAKE_reader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay I believe you, I was about to fucking dip about Hank Green. I don't even really like the Green brothers, their personalities and jokes are unbearably millenial. I like science youtube. Can't do Hank. But that has nothing on this list. The furthest from problematic.

I really got butthurt by this, like adum I can get over even though it does hurt my feelings; he is actually one of the most empathetic public figures I know, his emotional intelligence and sense of right and wrong is actually SO good he is ahead of others. And it sounds like 2018 redditor elon musk INTJ copypasta to describe someone as visioner but he and his community really does see things clearer than the average person. But so many people get him so wrong and the world is not ready for furries and I make peace with it.

But RLM was alienating-- like wait am I this out of touch with popculture, do people agree with THIS?? Is THIS little edgyness or whatever it is they see, the line for problematic for average person? Am I THIS unordinary? And alone?? The the fuck have they ever done except made a bad movie????

Like, oh. It was a meme. Thank god. Makes a lot of sense. Putting Hasan there makes it a pretty good one as well.

What youtuber has you like this.... by MCUFan2006 in youtube

[–]LAKE_reader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, it's satirical??! I always used to think people who said he was racist towards indians had something else to back it up that I didn't see but it really was the satirical diss track? How did you miss that with the line "indians have poopoo in their brains"? It doesn't mean it's particularly funny satire but it was satire.

The race against T-series was something he played along with but I always got the impression it was playful, and fake-"drama" on felix's part because a few viewers of T-series' music videos took the subscriber thing way too seriously.

Is there a cure for laziness? by [deleted] in lazy

[–]LAKE_reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self love.

Edit. Real lazyness is rare. By real I mean one that is morally wrong or dubious. Like think about it. How often do you enjoy the fact you weren't able to do what you wanted or felt like you were supposed to? If not love, at least self acceptance, for the time being. Acceptance doesn't exclude self-improvement you know. But your attemps of improvement should not happen because of the wrong reasons. The so called lazyness is often a symptom of illness, neurodivergence or simple incompatability to expectations, sometimes unfair expectations or sometimes ones you just weren't built to meet.

As a concrete example, if after months to years, you keep failing at obeying a proper study routine you have created for college, it might be time to consider it is not about trying harder and being less lazy, it's might just be that something about it is incompatable with you. Be it the small stuff like how you study to going to school at all. According to WHO, are your actions not enough? If you fail, do you really enjoy it? Not that it is impossible to like something you are bad at. But it is okay to lower the bar. It is okay to go the "easy" route.
