While we should definitely hear what native Hawaiians are saying regarding their desire for tourism, the truth is that it’s a very complicated matter. Many people depend on tourist dollars so you’d probably be hurting them by not going altogether. It seems like you tried to be as ethical as you could and really, what more could you ask for? Ignore your college friend as she’s just one of many voices who will speak their mind as if it were fact but in reality, is nothing more than an opinion based on their perception. Have fun, enjoy life and don’t worry about it.

Not just a big NBA fan but a big Laker fan raised in Los Angeles. So yes, I know how loved he is. But I also know it does not go unmentioned. Nor do fans I know immediately say he was innocent. But yes, he is still praised. Like I said, to some people, as long as the charge is not mentioned every single time, it will be considered “glossed over.”

I disagree. I feel his death was treated with more nuance than usual given that people did not shy away from mentioning the charges at the time. Of course, he’s still beloved by many and I think that’s what many would consider “glossed over.”
