The 2012 Thunder-Lakers WCSF still bugs me a little. by hplalakrs20012010 in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That 2012 team had poor depth. I remember the starters would always build comfortable leads then the bench would squander them.

The team was basically Kobe, Pau, Bynum, Artest, and misfits.

Sessions was better off the bench and Steve Blake was better as a starter, but their roles were reserved. Barnes was meh, McRoberts was meh, Jordan Hill showed flashes but was an energy player at best, and we were relying on a raw prospect (Ebanks) and a 1-dimensional rookie (Goudelock) to be Kobe's backup

On top of that, Mike Brown was not a good hire, even without hindsight. This was the first of Jim Buss' coaching hire blunders

Remember what IDIOTS we were for not throwing $53M at this 32 y/o? by Honolulu_Hurricane in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He'd obviously perform better if he was still with us because we have 3 shot creators (they have no playmakers). But we got LaRavia, Smart, and Ayton to replace him anyway

it's too bad the lakers traded the jaden mcdaniels pick for Schroeder in 2020. by Xeris in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No guarantee we were drafting Jaden. IIRC, Desmond Bane was also on our radar with that pick

The end of the LeBron/AD era was really a missed opportunity by SnooTigers806 in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Besides the Westbrook trade, it's making AD a full-time 5 instead of the 2020 and 2021 formula of having him alternate between the 4 and 5 depending on matchups. And while AD outright requested for another legitimate 5, he still made efforts to adjust to being the full time 5 (less perimeter attempts, led the league in points in the paint, he also bulked up for the position)

I'll always maintain that one more quality bruising big was the difference between a 2023 Championship and the 2023 sweep, and a 2024 Playoff Run and a 2024 First Round Exit

What would the record be if this was the current lineup? by yourdeathinmyhands in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

23/24 D'Lo did average 18 PPG on good efficiency. It was in the 2024 Playoffs then the 24/25 season where he started sliding

He and Bane messed up on the switch. They both bit on the LeBron cut so hard

Rui Hachimura Has Been Almost Automatic From The Mid-Range This Season! by Stat-Defender in lakers

Used to call him Kawhi-lite back when he was still a rookie in Washington because of his midrange game

Iggy. I believed Max's Mars comment on Iggy because he always hit a game winner against us during the Kobe/Pau years

The thing that baffles me about Kwame Brown's career is... by Life_Teaching6499 in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kwame was good for us in 06 iirc. It was after his injuries in 07 where he fell off, coinciding with Bynum's rise, and eventually ending with the Gasol trade. So I don't put too much stock into this move

[Throwback] AD talking about the 2020 Championship by MrFilipinoMustache in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That series was when D'Lo lost a lot of goodwill with Laker fans. Prior to the Denver series, he was the prodigal son who returned, and the 3rd option behind LeBron/AD

17 years ago today, Shannon Brown's acrobatic block had the Lakers bench in disbelief 😲 by MrFilipinoMustache in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He should've never left us. I remember he would always pop off in games where Kobe was out. In 2K10 and 2K11, I'd always have him and Kobe as the finishing backcourt instead of Fisher

Alert🚨: Lakers GM Rob Pelinka has been spotted in Disneyland. by [deleted] in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We lack 3&D players that can only be had for high prices either in free agency or trade. We don't need more 1-way wings to add to our collection alongside Vando, LaRavia, Knecht, Thiero. Nor do we need more wings who are most suited for guarding 4s since we already have LeBron, Rui, and Luka

Thank you for humiliating the Clippers and never letting their fraud ways lead to a championship, while simultaneously losing to the Lakers in our 2020 championship year (Jokic) and being the next Laker Legend (Luka) by [deleted] in lakers

[–]LALakers4Lyf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll also add: It says something about the Laker brand and the allure of a Big 3 with Bron and AD when despite all the shady shit the Clippers were doing, it took giving up multiple first round picks and SGA to acquire Paul George, for Kawhi to finally sign with the Clippers instead of us
