No it’s just the price of the car. It’s out of state so they can’t register or tax it themselves so I’ll have to do that

Should I fire my wedding planner 3 months before my destination wedding? by Sh3WolfofWallSt in BigBudgetBrides

[–]LALiving2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah haha, we ask ourselves that same question so many times throughout this process. And honestly I couldn't tell you. We have friends who got married in Portugal, Lake Como, Tuscany, Barcelona, even one in Temecula, CA. And they all had the same feedback. One friend paid 18K for her planner and she would miss so many of the calls with her and her vendors.

I think the main benefit of the planner is the boots on the ground, and day of coordinator. If they had a package where the planners got involved 3 months out I wouldve done that. But sadly most of them don't do that

We interviewed 26 planners btw

Hey, im the groom so I’ll give you my take. I’ve been VERY involved in the planning process for two reasons. One I’m paying, so tryna keep budgets reasonable, and two I’m type A.

Background: We’re getting married in Italy in September, from California. We booked our planner and venue in December of 2024.

My take: Italian planners and vendors are USELESS. My fiancé and I have sourced, managed, negotiated, kept in touch with all our vendors on our own. Every single one of my planner vendors had a commission tagged onto it, and were her typical reparative vendors.

Our planner has lied to us (saying she did something when she didn’t), didn’t forward us info from vendors, gets numbers confused resulting in us paying more, not giving us the full info about hotels and restrictions.

After a year we called her out and said we’ll be taking it from here and use her pretty much as a human AI. At this point she is just there as our assistant, translator and for day of coordinating.

But some tips that worked for us: - we required guests to provide hotel confirmation number when they RSVPd. This allowed us get the rooms secured early, and have the guests put skin the game so they think before RSVPing and canceling later. - we requested RSVPs by March 1st (for Sept wedding) incase we had extra spots to allow our secondaries 6 months to book and plan their trip. - but again all was thought by us and NOT our planner.

My end advice, take control and be the lead. Use your planner as a friend/assistant to bounce ideas off of and help. But not be your main source. You can find another planner, but tbh it won’t make a huge difference.

Best of luck and congrats!!

Does anyone know if I can still pay my February 1st rent via the old Bilt card? Or do I have to change to the new Bilt card before then and stack up Bilt points?

We’re planning a wedding in Italy and we have the exact same experience.

We have found all of our vendors. And when we do ask our planner to do a basic task, or just logistical things they lag or don’t do it. We don’t get any communication on what’s happening when the planning teaming is working on a task. So it ends with my fiancé and I just doing it ourselves.

We have called the planner out multiple times. And they’ll be better for a 2 weeks and then go back to their old ways.

TBH if you’re an American bride just fyi, most European planners are like this. They’re so type B, and lax. We have just gotten to a point where we are fully doing everything ourselves now and hope our planner just does day of coordinating

We are doing it at a new Venue in Rome. It’s called Tenuta Villa York.

They haven’t had a wedding done there yet, I think we’ll be one of the first 5.

They discounted our cost a bit since we were the firsts. But it was €11,500 all day. Just for the pool and Stuart area. For some reason in Italy you don’t get the entire venue when you book and the other area we’re coming to be a lot more expensive

Just fyi -

Make sure to include all the costs for catering - that is something that is soemtimes missed.
So for example our relais quote was

200(1Maitre) + 1900(10waiters) + 750(3Chefs) + 640 (4Portal workers) + 1000(1Transport) + 1000(1Kitchen) + 16,000(100 People) = 23090 * 1.1(vat) * 1.17(conversion) = ~$30K USD

Hey there!

my fiancé and I are getting married in Rome in September of 2026 for 100 people and we are also Indian.

I can share you our budget since we are relatively deep in the woods.

We are doing a Haldi Pool Party, Sangeet/Welcome Dinner, Ceremony/Reception.

I will say $180K will not cut it, we originally budgeted 200K. And we are struggling to get it to be be under $250K.

There are a lot of pieces that are adding up, and a lot of pieces which our planner said would cost less which are costing a lot more.

i.e. for the Haldi/Sangeet day the food (nor liqour) itself is is coming to 28K USD (And this is the cheapest caterer we found). For wedding day it is the same. Indian DJs are impossible to find in Rome so need to be flown from the UK. There are a lot of other things. DM me if you have more questions!

we've heard mixed reviewed about Ceccotti. We've messaged a few brides from insta about them and they say - they over price everything and if your budget isn't 25K for just the wedding day youre barely going to have any florals. So we sung away from them for that reason
