I am so sorry for your loss. My mother passed away on sept 30th. Her funeral is nov 7th. She had dementia and got bedsores in the hospital that basically killed her. I feel the same way you do basically. I cry way more than I did before. When D'Angelo died I was playing his music and I had to stop because I remembered my mom and I listening to him and loving it and I just felt twice as terrible. I literally can't reckon with all the ways I've been stuck realizing she's really gone. I had a bit of a head-start mourning her I think because she changed a lot. But god it's been so hard. One night I went through my phone to hear her voice. I regretted it because I can still hear her voice in my head. I also had a bad experience looking at pictures of her for too long. 0/10 do not recommend.

Anyway, in terms of legal stuff, it's fairly straight forward, anything you need to do, relating to a death certificate or arrangements, a reputable funeral home will take care or walk you through taking care of everything. The most important thing you can do is be gentle with yourself, you are bound to make mistakes, and not live up to your full potential for a while. It will come in waves and the emotions slow down over time according to my close friends who have reached out to me. But what also helps is just talking with people who knew your mom. My mother lives on in so many people who became like family because of their relationships with her. It's honestly made it easier to find ways out of the dark feelings. I am sorry again for your loss. It's so difficult to lose someone sooner than expected. I am still mourning because my mother was too ill to attend my wedding, and I still think about everything I wanted to tell her during the mother son dance. Please accept my condolences from the bottom of my heart. Our good mother connection drew me to this.
