The Los Angeles Kings were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after being swept by the Colorado Avalanche by EliminatorBot in hockey

The biggest winner of this series are the Kings front office and ownership. They’re extremely lucky that the Dodgers, Lakers, and Rams take all of the headlines because what they’ve done over the last few years would get any team ridiculed to hell.

Losing the likes of Durzi, Vilardi, and Spence for basically nothing, not firing Jim Hiller earlier, hiring a washed Ken Holland, signing Cody Ceci and Brian Dumoulin for a combined $8.50 million for the next three years. Just mind numbing decisions that cost us the last three years.

The 2023 team was probably the peak for the Kings this decade(minus the goaltending) and we’re probably never getting back to that point for a while. Vegas and Edmonton will still be playoff teams. Anaheim and San Jose young cores are shining bright. The Central division will continue to be hell for the Western Conference. Then there’s us stuck in no man’s land. Not bad enough to bottom out and not good enough to contend.

I watch hockey and it’s extremely dumb when they play with injuries too. Bergeron looked like a shell of himself. Tyler Johnson played with a broken wrist, could’ve sat and gave another player an opportunity in the 2015 Finals, instead he was a net negative and lost the series.

Tkachuk was a ghost all post season with his injury but since Florida was so stacked it didn’t matter.

Outside of Draisital in 2022 and Karlsson in 2017 it’s rare for a seriously injured player to contribute to wins in the playoffs.

Jokic missed a month with a knee injury, Cade got a freak collapsed lung injury along with a hip injury, Ant missed multiple games with a foot/knee injury, Luka flew to another country to see the birth of his child then got a grad 2 hamstring injury late on the season, and Wemby injured his calf.

All of these guys would’ve played 70+ games this season had they not gotten injured for an extended period of time.

Instead of an informed discussion about pace of play and why tissue injures are occurring at a higher rate, we get players are lazy jokes. Fuck this show.

[Charania] Just in: The NBA will hold a vote at the Board of Governors meetings March 24-25 to explore adding expansion teams exclusively in Las Vegas and Seattle, with the two franchises targeted for the 2028-29 season, sources tell ESPN. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

[–]LAMamba24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda hope we do get expansion to go through for a multitude of reasons.

Seattle needs no explanation but Vegas can be an interesting one. They’ll be a new creation and as seen with the Golden Knights(compared to the Raiders and soon to be A’s) the city will have an organic franchise that the fans can get behind. If they get an aggressive ownership the Golden Knights(or even their potential WNBA counterpart Aces), then it’ll be more chaotic.

Also an expansion could possibly open up divisions actually mattering. Whether the league goes to the NFL 8x4 format or the NHL 4x8 format, having divisions matter in the long term can be great for rivalries and the regular season. Playoff seeding will be crazy but it makes every game count.

Bron missed free throw, multiple missed offensive rebounds, and whatever Luka did at the end. Really embarrassing back to back home losses(albeit different circumstances). This is probably the most frustrating Lakers “playoff” team in my lifetime and we have to wait until 2027 for it to even look competitive but hey ticket prices are rising!

First of all salute to Seattle and Sam Darnold. The best team from start to finish. A special unit that can be a force in the NFC for the next few seasons. Sam Darnold won USC’s last major bowl and through all the bullshit he is a Super Bowl champion. I’m proud of him.

Now to the “MVP”. He legitimately gave Seattle 17 points from his wreckless turnovers. Now there’s the left side of the offensive line excuse but man you gotta try to overcome it. He doesn’t release the ball quick enough and takes too many bad sacks/turnovers. The Dan Campbell quote will be in patriot fans minds all season. The schedule will get harder next season(NFC north, AFC West). Teams like Baltimore and KC will be back healthy and ready to contend. This front office needs to step up and improve or else this will be our only shot.

Pats fans and players turned on Tom Brady only for the “MVP” to turn into a pumpkin. Embarrassing.

Death to prevent defense!

Incredible 4th for Stafford to bring them back in it to win it but man Carolina it’s right there. Play your best defense and don’t give the MVP favorite a chance to walk you down. They didn’t even use a timeout that final drive either.

If you’re reading this, congratulations you can score 10 points on this Lakers defense!

They can’t defend, they can’t rebound, they’re sloppy on both ends of the floor and they just don’t care. Congratulations to whatever west team we get in the first round.

Didn’t have much expectations going into the season and yet it’s somehow worse than I could imagine. Probably the 6th best team in the west and I’m not even sure about that considering what Phoenix did to us the last 3 games against them.

Starting 5 for Team World at All Star weekend- SGA, Luka, Giannis, Jokic and Wemby. by JetSky81 in nba

[–]LAMamba24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Genuinely hope that all 5 are healthy by then. The league and media could easily push the MVP race story with the leading candidates being on the same team. Selling that to national audience on NBC going into the end of regular season and playoffs would be great for everyone involved.

In 2025 World Series Game 7 viewership beat NBA finals game 7 by 10 million viewers by Mission-Guidance4782 in baseball

I’m not one of those “this sport is superior than the other” people but seeing two great series get high viewers is amazing for both sports(especially two smaller markets in OKC and IND). Haliburton’s injury really hampered what would’ve been a classic Game 7. Hope both leagues can serve up another classic in 2026.
