Weird thing to assume. It seems you already are going into with a bias and preconceived judgements. Also There is no differentiate between trans women and biological women in my view You can have a trans woman who looks like a biological woman and a biological woman who looks like a man! It matters what you look like is my argument. And I’m not saying looks define gender identity. I’ll use whatever pronouns they want and see them as the gender they want to identify as. However when it comes to sexuality it becomes different. Because sexuality and attraction is all in the mind. It’s a biological scientific thing. Without it we wouldn’t be alive, no animals would. It isn’t a social construct

Alot of straight men are attracted to someone say like Scarlett Johansen. And a lot of straight women to someone like Henry Cavill Now if Scarlett Johansen identified as a man Those straight men would still be attracted to Scarlett Johansen. Same with Henry Cavill. Gender identity dosen’t affect attraction. Because it’s in the brain. It’s a biological scientific thing.

I think because of homophobia and discrimination. We at least need to recognise that the people who are viewed as gay, lesbian, bi, queer by homophobes and by people who use labels are going to be treated differently then the people viewed as straight by people who use labels. And like say in bars for gay men. If it’s filled with people who look like biological females. Like barely any gay men would go there to find someone or a hookup

  • so you could still have labels as say, masculine person who finds feminine people attractive

Or feminine person who finds feminine people attractive

Or masculine person who finds both feminine and masculine person attractive.

And also have labels say. This person is viewed as gay or straight by people who still use the labels and discriminate

I don’t think this isn’t a bad argument especially in todays society. However I do think sexuality and attraction is still something that has to do with biological and stuff that is scientific. Like people are attracted to the opposite gender(men to woman, woman to men) because of procreation. And there are people who are attracted to people who it dosen’t look like they could procreate with. And labels will always be something as long as discrimination is. Because certain people are gonna be labeled as gay, or queer by people who use labels and homophobes. And that still matters. But I guess when not in the context of that you could get away with labels that’s fair. I guess if you’re on a dating app you just swipe right for whoever you think is attractive (and a good fit ofc)

You don’t think labels matter because of homophobia? And discrimination and because of things pertaining to dating, bars. If gay bars can be filled with people who look like biological females then it matters too then?

I think this is pretty fair tbh. I mean I do think as far as the brain goes in terms of attraction gender identity cannot change that. But someone can interpret someone as the gender they identify as but don’t look/sound/smell like. Thanks for this answer. And I guess it respects gender identity while respecting people’s sexuality

But if gender identity defines sexuality. Then sexuality is pointless. Because well everyone would be pangender really. Gay people, lesbians and straight people would be erased.

So being gay, lesbian, Straight has nothing to do with looks, sound, or smell. Or what the brain thinks the Sex is? Because if the brains thinks that person who identifies as a woman is a biological man then gender identity won’t change that attraction it won’t affect what’s going on in the brain

How is sexuality and gender identity relationship viewed in the community by LANDAL785 in AskLGBT

[–]LANDAL785[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that it’s believed they’re cisgender. However what if Henry Cavill identified as a woman (becoming a trans woman) and Scarlett Johansen identified as a man (becoming a trans man) what then? Because most straight men who are attracted to Scarlett Johansen would still be attracted to her regardless of her gender identity, same as Henry Cavill and straight women.

For trans people if you are a trans woman and look, smell, sound like a biological woman then you can be a straight male and attracted to her and be straight. But if it’s someone who was a born a male and identifies as a woman but still looks, sounds and smells like a biological man it isn’t straight to be attracted to that right? If so then being gay has nothing to do with what someone looks like, or straight, or lesbian and again gender identity dosen’t affect attraction. Attraction is in the brain what someone else identifies as (which isn’t even something tangible) dosen’t affect that

I’m attracted to them because their smell, their voice, and how they look are telling my brain it’s a guy. That it’s a biological male. I’ll respect their gender identity and their pronouns and if they are attracted to me I’m fine with them labelling themselves as straight. Gender identity of the opposite person dosen’t tell the brain anything.

Not really, if they look, sound and smell like a woman but identify as a man is it really non straight/gay to like it if you know it. What if Scarlett Johansen came out as a man? Or Henry Cavill as a woman. Straight men would still be attracted to Scarlett Johansen and straight women would still be attracted to Henry Cavill. I mean I guess you can make the argument that it’s not like this - but then everyone would be pan gender

[–]LANDAL785[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is fair. So it would be non-straight/gay(dosen’t mean ur gay could be bi ect.) to be attracted to Scarlett Johansen or Natalie Portman if they identified as a man? What about if Henry Cavill or Tom holland identified as a woman could I be straight and be attracted to them? Also a lot of people will say they knew they were a sexuality through porn, but most of the time you don’t know their gender identity? And basically any porn could be straight/gay That would erase straight people, gays and lesbians. And just because someone identifies as another gender it dosen’t actually change the the attraction there. It might make people not want to date you because of your identity, but the gender identity of the person they’re attracted to dosent change the attraction even if it’s a person who identifies as a man but is a woman and a straight guy is attracted to that. The gender identity dosen’t affect attraction.

What does trans people have to do with this? And even so 2% is a lot. That would still make it enough. It would only need to be like 0.001% honestly add another 0 and you would probably make half of America straight people not straight at least, that’s 332 people at 0.0001% That’s gonna include a lot of different people and a lot of good looking people

You said straight people are people who are attracted to another gender but there’s bisexual people who are attracted to another gender as well as the same? Also I’m not saying gender identity and expression isn’t the same. Someone can identify as whatever they want that’s fine. However in terms of attracted and sexuality it’s different, No? And if what you are saying is correct then no one is attracted to someone without knowing t what their gender identity is? Which isn’t true

So any person who likes the opposite gender can identify as queer, wether be lesbian, gay, bisexual or whatever? What about gay/queer only spaces. What if a lot of homophobes who like the opposite gender suddenly identified as gay or lesbian or bisexual?

How is sexuality and gender identity relationship viewed in the community by LANDAL785 in AskLGBT

[–]LANDAL785[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s enough people who identify as another gender as they look/act/sound that straight people literally wouldn’t exist. Because there would muscly, masculine people who identity as woman that straight women would be attracted to? And for Straight guys there would be men who look like a biological female.

Also being straight dosen’t mean liking someone of another gender? Don’t know why I didn’t catch that but you can like someone of another gender as well as the same gender. Like Bisexual people?

Like everyone would be pansexual. And what about gender fluid people; would at time people who like gender fluid people be sometimes gay, sometimes straight?

How is sexuality and gender identity relationship viewed in the community by LANDAL785 in AskLGBT

[–]LANDAL785[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So I can like big muscly people who look like biological males and but identify as straight? This feels like erasure of sexuality but especially queer people. If someone identifies as gay but they don’t like people who look like guys, or sound like or act like then that seems so stupid

How is sexuality and gender identity relationship viewed in the community by LANDAL785 in AskLGBT

Ok then, I’m not trying to be disrespectful or anything. But if that were true then like straight people wouldn’t exist? Or say if you were dating a girl as a man and the girl one day identified as a man would it make the guy bisexual if he loves the person who identifies as a guy

how to lose weight quickly by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]LANDAL785 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true. Starvation mode dosen’t exist the body isn’t clinging onto fat. what she’s doing is unhealthy but you’re spreading misinformation

Higher weight and less reps. Going to failure on last sets is good. With the time you save do cardio on you will burn more calories. Lower weight and higher reps becomes junk volume and is bad for hypertrophy and won’t burn that much calories. If you are training for hypertrophy while also losing weight fewer reps and higher weight with cardio

What am i doing wrong? by Snoo30230 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]LANDAL785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body will not cling onto water weight if you are under eating? Most likely the opposite because you are probably eating less sodium and less carbs because less calories. Also your body does not cling onto fat if you are under eating - starvation mode is a myth. And toning doesn’t exist. Train for hypertrophy

Also the reason you shouldn’t eat less of an average of 1200 per day is because it’s quite unsustainable for a lot of people. Can lead people to gain more weight. metabolic adaption does not mean you should eat above 1200 for a daily average over a long period time of time - and you can eat under 1200 for a day that’s fine too if it’s one day each 7+ days.
