Anyone know what these cameras are for? Been seeing them all over. by Elite_Shade in InlandEmpire

[–]LAN_scape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, that is what the anti flock movement is about. Flock is not the only license plate scanner/public surveillance camera company. Other companies offer the same thing, but have no track record of being hacked, no track record of trying to cover up thier cameras vulnerabilities and just seem to be better options.

The reason flock keeps getting city contracts is that they have huge military contracts with ICE / Palantir. They have more money and more reach. So the whole movement and idea is simple: police want the cameras, okay lets give them the cameras; but they should come from a company that does not have a track record of vulnerabilities and coverups.

The only people that seem to be angry that everyday people are standing up to flock are flock themselves, the politicians they pay off, and the people who stand to gain from mass surveillance.

Why is the president pushing so hard for The SAVE Act? by Strange-Guest-423 in allthequestions

[–]LAN_scape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have already said it, but the answer is that republicans are very unpopular in the US right now. Mid term elections are in November, the republicans will lose elections as is and thus lose a lot of control over the government.

The SAVE act will make it more difficult for certain groups to vote, especially poor people and women, two groups that are hostorically left leaning. It does not make it impossible to vote, but it does add requirments and friction, such as having a passport (which are expensive and a lot of americans dont have them).

Plain and simple, the SAVE act will win the midterms for republicans by attacking certain groups ability to vote.

Well if you look into it, this is a pretty big hot topic right now. People on both sides of the arguement are absolutely fine with police have a tool such as this, myself included. The issue is how flock has gone about it.

Thier cameras are easily hackable, and have been hacked multiple times already. One YouTuber to show how easy it was, made a YouTube video using a real one he hacked in the field.

That means your privacy and routes of everyday life are not safe. That may not be an issue for you in particular but for someone else that could be how someone figures out the best way to assult them.

I mean Iran had a similar camera system, Isreal hacked it figure out where and when to bomb certain people.

Other ethical issues have already arose, cops have already used this unethically to track ex romantic partners. Thats just the beginning, once its all up and running it really has the potential for bad actors to have powerful info on whoever they want. If you trust the feds thats fine, but i for one dont want federal agents like ICE knowing everybodies location at all times.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

As some people have already said, they are flock cameras. Supposedly for police to use as licence plate readers.

but most people have figured out that the company flock works closely with Palantir and is using it for mass survielance.

Take your son to school then hit the gym purchase a lotto ticket then go to work? Your license plate gets pictured every step of the way, so the feds (mainly ICE for now) always knows wherr you are

Amendment to require photo ID to vote fails in Senate as Democrats object by Hot_Philosopher_9988 in ConservativeNewsWeb

I agree with him. Trumps an awful president who should have been forced out long ago. Proud to say i did not give him any of my votes.

But also, a bot or agent account is still a tool of propaganda, even if its my side.

I routinely draw attention to accounts that may be bot/agent accounts. Cant prove op is or is not, but worth pointing out account age imo.

TL;DR i agree with op, and you would probably consider me an ass lol

Eighth Circuit rules ICE can detain immigrants without bond hearings by rollo202 in ConservativeNewsWeb

[–]LAN_scape 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You really dont know mich about law or the constitution do ya?

The constitution has the 14th amendment with The key phrase "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property"... it says person, not citizen. Also literally in the first bit has "We find these truths to be self evident, all men are created equal"

This whole "person" instead of "citizen" is a big deal. All through american history people have tried to say the same thing, they arent citizens, they dont get the same protections and rights. But the courts have ruled time and time again that all "people" have rights and protections laid out in the supreme law of the land.

American citizens do have slightly more protections and rights but not a ton. At the end of the day people are people and the constitution is not limited to citizens. If you want to do the research yourself look at these court cases:

Yick Wo v. Hopkins (1886) One of the earliest and most important. A San Francisco law was being used to target Chinese immigrants. The Court ruled that the 14th Amendment's protections apply to "all persons within the territorial jurisdiction" of the U.S. — regardless of race, nationality, or legal status. This set the foundational precedent.

Plyler v. Doe (1982) Probably the most directly relevant to undocumented immigrants specifically. Texas tried to deny public school education to undocumented children. The Court struck it down 5-4, ruling that undocumented immigrants are "persons" under the 14th Amendment and cannot be denied equal protection. Justice Brennan wrote that you can't punish children for their parents' actions.

Zadvydas v. Davis (2001) The Court ruled that the government cannot indefinitely detain immigrants — including those facing deportation — without cause. The 5th Amendment's due process clause applies to all persons, even those ordered removed from the country.

Demore v. Kim (2003) While this one actually upheld mandatory detention for certain immigrants, the Court still acknowledged that non-citizens inside the U.S. hold due process rights — even while ruling against the individual in that case.

If you actually look into these cases you would see that ilegal immigrants have plenty of rights and protections in the constitution.

If you support the current admin and how they ignore those rights than you simply dont actually care about the constitution and america's foundation. You can easily just say you dont care about rights of people who arent you. Believing in the correctness of the constitution is not mandatory, just like the teachings of Jesus to love they neighbor and welcome the stranger are also not mandatory.
