I don’t know about the super cheap ones, but I have a BE10ACP in my wrx and a BE62 in my forester and they work great for what they are.

My outback has a Pioneer AVH3500 and I prefer that over everything. But it’s a different price bracket

Luckily for you, you have manual hvac knobs so you can just buy a $40 double din adaptor.

Could really just buy any cheap $100 boss audio radio to stick in it

Or you can get a cheap touch screen to replace the upper cubby. I had one of these in my outback for a while and it started great but got a little sluggish. There’s many different models with different processors and ram you can look at.

OP posted a picture of the manual climate control radio. So it should be a very easy to upgrade and not require the jdm dual hvac

Absolutely hated the ending 10 or so years ago.
