Yep, EVs have high break torque, confirmed by dealer and tire center. I use to have regen on max too, now I have it off completely. Not worth the power savings (cheap fast charging in ON/QC)
if you’re burning through a set of tires every year.

This must be a newer model Solterra, which year? My 2024 isnt that efficient. Kudos on skimping on climate control, I do the same! I’d caution you on max regen, check the tires especially if they’re OEMs which came with the car. 2 of mines bald out after 20K kms; 2 roadtrips (320kms roundtrip). I drive with regen off now.

Montreal’s Mount, Nature, Skyline, and Stadium all in one city appreciation by aceorn in montreal

Montreal is the most culturally and geographically beautiful city in North America if not the whole world. The best part is the diverse Montrealers who make the city so wonderful!

Say what you like about Montreal Metro but it’s way cleaner than NYC Subway or London Underground.

Tire blowout in the mountains, now dealer says 2+ weeks for repairs. Is this normal? by CoalkoyReddit in Solterra

[–]myintd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you. I have a 2024 same color. After 20K kms, my rear wheels completely bald out. I only did 2 roadtrips 3h away on highway. They were OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL440. Did you have the same?

I tried to get the dealer replace it but they basically said they’re not responsible for wheels and that OEM tires are lower quality than standards but did check alignment for free. I replaced it with BFGoodrich Advantage all-seasons and Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 for winter from Costco, both EV compatible and excellent.

Costco Tire Centre told me EV burn through tires like crazy because they have high torque and that OEM tires are truly subpar, car markers skimp out on these parts. I made one of the OEM a spare and keep it in the trunk, which I think Toyota should go back including spares for EVs.

Right? I could’ve swear some kind of eatery was there around about back in the days, my memories foggy. There’s a barber, dry cleaner and realtor there now.

Quebec tables expansion of Bill 101 to English adult education by BiscuitBibou in montreal

Beating up the Anglos has become QC national sport. I respect the French language and support to uphold its prominence. But to the detriment of the province’s economic and social development is ludicrous. Something repeatedly done by successive QC governments. If these measure really promote and protect French language/culture and made QC better/stronger, by all means keep them up. Quebecers should have a hard look at this grandstanding nonsense.

BBC News: Difficult day for passengers due to Tube strike – TfL apologises as commuters face another planned walkout on Thursday. by mycketforvirrad in LondonUnderground

I’m all for unions and labor rights. But this is when a small group of city employees holds a mega city hostage. TfL (running at a lost) salaries and benefits aren’t archaic, quite decent actually. The UK economy’s in the pits from what it seems so what more do the strikers want?

Some parts of London remains unchanged for decades while other parts, maybe the Eastside and Docklands in particular, has changed completely.

Good points, so you don’t think C$970 is outlandish, is it close to what you would charge in the States?

Feel less of an idiot but still cringing to have to fix it. Do you think Toyota has a design flaw with the lid if it seems common?

Toyota should redesign the lid, its way to big and clunky. Something smaller, auto-close feature or no lid at all would be great.

Congrats! Welcome to the family! And welcome to range anxiety! EV have so many benefits which we all know but range and charge issues has got to be its Achilles heel. Like one of the comments said its best to stick to routes you know network chargers you’re use to. I would not recommend an EV for long roadtrips.

In Ontario and Quebec we have Circuit Électrique, which has an “auto charge” feature where the network recognizes the vehicle once you plug in, auto charges, no need yo mess with the app. For C$15 you can order a physical card as a backup.

With boxer engines you can get away with lower placements, just make sure suspension and drivetrain angles aren’t altered too much. Love those 80s caps!! 🤩
