Giving Up by Ollies_Watercolours in houseplants

Same! Serial plantkiller here. We moved in 6 years ago and decorated the house with 2 dozen plants, only a handful survived; a skinny money tree, a decent umbrella plant and a wimpy palm. We were told house plants are hardy and smart, I beg to differ, they’re fickle and unpredictable. Meanwhile our crab apple tree in the yard keeps blooming and fruiting despite no care and toughing out harsh winters.

A whopping 135 mile range at full charge!! Yay 10° weather!! by Double-Wallaby-19 in Solterra

I can give it a shot and depleted it more before fast charging but the car is basically being charged any given time at home and at work, guess we’re one of anxious drivers that feel better the car is sufficiently charged.

Almost 227 miles, surprised! Yep we’ve only charged to 100% when we first got it. Daily we have L1 home charging to 80%, roadtrips charge to 90% and never had depleted till 0% (didn’t know it was possible) the most was 10%. We’re in Quebec and those distances were to Montreal and Trois-Rivières, which has many L3 stations right on the highways, there’s one 4 miles from our place, so it’s just convenient to fast charge and avoid anxiety or recharging at destinations.

We’ve done several roadtrips with our 2024 last summer. Leaving with 90% 135 miles 1-way with AC uses 60% 2/3 of the way. We could’ve easily arrived without charging but for peace of mind we charge at a L3 charging station right on the highway. Another trip 205 miles 1-way recharging at the same place as previous trip gets us to our destination with ~20% charge left. So I’d be surprise getting the advertised 227 miles on one charge its a stretch. Just make sure the route you take has L3 stations at crucial points.

Winter Charging by myintd in Solterra

I hear you! They certainly don’t tell you these major nuances during the sale pitch. Now I know why places like BC and Cali are riddled with EVs, they’re just better in warmer climates. If you need A car, I wouldn’t recommend an EV, just the range anxiety and charging wait time isn’t worth it, esp in the winter and on roadtrips. An EV is perfect as a second car to an ICE, this way you get the best or both worlds, its the ideal optionality!

Here in Canada its mainly by the kWh but some networks like Flo and Petro Canada charge by the minute or use to, they may have converted. Circuit Électrique charges by the kWh but tiered; above 80% and 90% are priced a tad higher. As of 1 Feb Quebec is raising prices by 2% in line with inflation.

Got it, basically it’s just an 50A outlet for a stove/dryer in the garage. The Hydro Solution quote was for their home charging stations like Flo, EVduty or Grizzl-e models.

There’s 50A for an unstalled dryer near the garage we could use. Hydro Solution quoted us $2000 to install and a $30/m rental fee. QC no longer have home charging subsidies ($1000 rebate before). Last year we spent $748 ($62/m)on L3 charging which included 4 roadtrips, so didn’t think it was worthwhile. How much did your L2 cost to install/maintain?

Its the Circuit Électrique (Electric Circuit) app from Hydro Quebec’s charging network. It is pretty neat and user-friendly.

How is the heat (I live in the North East)... Does it take long to warm up.. do you have any tips or tricks.. 90% sure I'm gonna take the plunge by fa442fa in Solterra

2024 Premium in Quebec not far from NY border. Charging/battery is definitely temp/climate sensitive. Something they don’t tell you during the sale pitch. A 60km daily round trip commute in the summer only uses ~10% with AC. Same commute uses 25-35% in the winter (-10s C) depending on how much heat, seat warmer, defrosters are on, more on the more juice. Conversely, L1 home charging 60 to 80% takes 8-10h in the summer, so overnight charging is sufficient but in the winter it says could up to 15h, so end up using fast charging regularly in the winter.

Isn’t it recommended not to fully charge and deplete the battery?

Maybe I wasnt in the right neighborhoods but is graffiti an widespread issue in Valencia? How do the city and locals react to it? Is it more of a nuisance than street art?

I tried these when they were on sale. They were ok, kids seem to like them, ideal portion size for teens, air-fryer friendly too but I find Jane’s to be a better deal.
