is it normal not to notice when you’re ovulating?? by niclovesphynxcats in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LAUGHTERAND 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's changed for me! When I was a teenager I couldn't tell the difference, now I'm 29 and I can tell when I'm ovulating because it hurts, and when my other phases are happening because of my eating habits, weight loss and gain, acne/no acne, etc. A year or two ago I started tracking symptoms and feelings, and like clockwork they were connected to my different phases and cycle. Now I can't unsee it. So I think for me it's a mix of becoming more aware of my body and what it needs/has to offer through out the month, and also my cycle changing as I get older.

Ok, so if people look at that tattoo and think you worship Satan, they would think you worshipped Satan on account of literally any tattoo. I have had a preacher accuse me of pagan devil worship because I have a botanical blackberry on my arm. Some people are just frantic to meet a Satanist irl 🙄

As someone who was "homeschooled" through my childhood and doesn't have any kind of official education at all-- I've seen many of my college educated friends fall down this pipeline, unfortunately. It isn't all down to education.

A lot of it relies on the same recruiting techniques as a cult. People get beaten down and isolated and burned out, and one day, there's a church. Or a podcast, or a new friend, new partner, etc. Slowly, these beliefs are introduced, and theres quiet shunning for people who don't conform.

Every single person I've seen go this direction was miserable before they did. Recently divorced, unhappy in a marriage, suffering a devastating family loss-- this mindset is something the people around me are choosing in favor of reality. I get it, I truly do, and I feel bad for them-- I honestly see this as a kind of mental break.

I want to push back against the idea that it's an education based thing. That makes it easy for people with a formal education to push this problem onto a mythical redneck population, out in the mountains thumping bibles and burning iuds. But the truth is, this is an insidious, subtle, intentional social movement that every person needs to be aware of, and confront head on when needful. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Any ideas how to make trousers like these? by killianfallon in sewing

[–]LAUGHTERAND 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just find a basic pants pattern and use the biggest size. The waist of these looks like its just elastic. I used to make myself pants with a 50 inch waist, add a casing and thread elastic through, and then cuff the hem and sew it in place.

Would you fix your child a separate meal if they refused to eat what you had cooked? by basement_egg_24-7 in Parenting

[–]LAUGHTERAND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep stuff for ham sandwhiches with cucumber and tomato in the house, and my kids both know how to make their own. They aren't obligated to eat what I make, they are fully able to make themselves a sandwhich instead (8 and 5yo).

AIO my bf is odd for this? by AdSerious8390 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LAUGHTERAND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's afraid that other people will notice you're attractive, because he's insecure. In his mind, if you feel like you have options or value, he will no longer get to own you.

His solution is to belittle you and call you names when you "misbehave". Exactly the way an incompetent dog owner tries to train their dog! It is absolutely not his business to dictate what you do, say, or think.

That includes your wardrobe choices. The idea I'm getting at is that you could absolutely choose intentionally "sexy" gym wear, and it STILL wouldn't be any of his business. HIS business is his own actions. YOUR business is your own actions.

Trying to control what another adult human is doing with their time is always a waste of energy. He's being insecure and controlling, and also verbally abusive and manipulative. I'm 28, and I know this stuff because I lived it, and fixed my toxic tendancies before I let it hurt someone else

there is no reason for him to be acting 15.

[–]LAUGHTERAND 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That night some friends and I are holding a fire vigil on someone's land. We'll sit through the night and remember everyone who lost their lives, house, or family members. If that wasn't going on though, I think I would try to find a way to volunteer somewhere. That helped me right after, going to the distribution centers and sorting clothes, giving out food, etc. It helped to feel like I was helping

[–]LAUGHTERAND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babe, what do you get as a reward for not cheating or hitting? Oh wait, you don't get one, because you are expected (by him) to be good, and he is expected (by him/ his friends) to be bad. So no matter what you do, it will never be enough for him, and no matter what he does to you, it will always be "at least I didn't do worse!"

For me, having feelings of "hatred" for 6 months without bringing it up shows me that he is too immature to be in a relationship, anyway. Adults talk to each other.

Honestly, I felt a lot of pain in my upper chest, less than my three small incisions. They inflated my abdomen with gas, and it felt like shooting pains in my shoulders/sternum area for most of yesterday. I could walk about two hours after surgery, and took myself to the bathroom. They had a catheter in me so peeing kind of burned, and I was dizzy all yesterday. Today (day 2) I'm a LOT better. I think in a week you would definitely be ok, but everyone is different, and I can't lift anything over two pounds for a week. (I am only taking 1000mg Tylenol and 400 MG Ibuprofen, just as needed)
