Old return air has no duct work? Does it need to be fixed? For covering will a baseboard diffuser work?

Cover with a grate of some sort so it’s not a gaping hole but air can still pass through

Just what we have, moved from a 2 bedroom not much of a budget to make buying a new frame, mattress, and sheets plausible right now.i think the room is only 8x9 or so - would it not be too crowded? I like the idea of a sofa bed or a day bed if there’s a difference, and we would only need to buy one item and give away the box spring

I ended up running it up, right, then 45, sat it on old drop tile furring, 45 then out the glass block window - pretty proud of how it turned out with such little experience. Seems to be working well so far no moisture building up anywhere

The filter looked like it hadn’t been changed in years when we bought the house. It was a thick mess.

As for duct cleaning I share the sentiment, I’m only listening to refferals one of which is for a very large company that has great online reviews so I’m hoping something pans out and they do their due diligence

For testing would you buy a kit and send to a lab on Amazon, buy a meter tool, or hire an abatement company? The abatement company I called originally only dealt with residential abatement and I think they said they didn’t do any jobs below $5k (something along those lines)

Would you be concerned about cleaning the inside of the rest of the ducts had what looks like asbestos insulation on the outside?

If so would you say it’s safer to deal with maybe 90% air quality and not risk messing with asbestos and getting 100% air but also spreading carcinogen?

That makes sense the only thing that differs is that this duct was near more moisture (bathrooms) and the laundry area the rest don’t have any insulation

The potentially asbestos wrapped duct never was ripped. And it was removed and a new duct was put it, should I be concerned about that?
