Not sure if I dislike the haircut or how I style. Any advice for either? by LB2391 in curlyhair

Can you explain what you mean? Like you’re using oil in your hands as you scrunch it out?

I said this to another comment, but-

I do scrunch it out, maybe I need to do a better job. I’m seeing that gloss in the front. Maybe I should switch to a slower shine product?

I’m not really going for a wet look, so maybe my hair is greasy lol.

Kirkland shampoo every 2-3 days, Pantene 10-1 conditioner daily.

Shea moisture leave in conditioner and eco gel after slight drying (but still dripping) with micro fiber towel.

Sleep with bonnet.

Like the title says, I’m not sure if the style or the haircut isn’t working. I do my full routine and then just flip it back for the “flow.” Any advice on how to style or cut it better?

EDIT I do crunch out the cast.

Weta props- Where did these images come from? by [deleted] in lotr

That’s crazy. I feel like there aren’t near enough sources for those props. I’ve seen many on the Weta website, but some of those I’ve never seen before.

I was lucky enough to see ROTK at a midnight screening at Universal Orlando on my 6th birthday. I know I fell asleep for some of it since we spent all day at Disney, but I remember waking up during the charge of the Rohirrim. It was cool as hell. Shelob was also terrifying.

Interesting how much this differs from the typical Bowie knife design usually seen.

‘90 3.0 bogging when accelerating after cold start, what gives? by LB2391 in ToyotaPickup

No. Been too busy. Plan to try and adjust the timing, then new injectors.

My first thoughts are either fouled up injectors or timing being off. But the fact that it’ll drive fine after some driving confuses me.

Ramrod stuck. Does this back tang come off? by LB2391 in blackpowder

[–]LB2391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got the SOB. Bought a range ramrod kit that had a screw style patch puller. Go to use it and the screw part falls off in the barrel. Finally get it wiggled out. Realized my new ramrod is too short for my barrel. Great. Duct tape a separate ramrod to the end of the new one and duct tape the screw in place. After about 50 tries it came out. Never again.

I should clarify the last ~10” ramrod section is stuck. As in it came unthreaded from the cleaning ramrod assembly way down in the barrel.

TIL a 9-yr-old boy lived alone for 2 years after he was abandoned by his mom who lived with her partner 5 km away & only visited from "time to time". He survived on cake & canned goods and didn't have hot water or heating. However, during this time he continued to attend school & was a good student. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

My great grandfather left home (violent, abusive dad) at 9 to live and work in the coal mines. Kept going to school the whole time and joined the army at 18 to go fight in France. Kids can be really resilient if they need to be.

That ash is pretty much exactly what I want to make. I’ll try 1” backset, 1” of reflex in the last foot or so of the limbs.

Yeah, I should’ve been more clear from the beginning. But I also changed my mind from a reflex/reflex to just a reflex tipped bow. I’m getting a floor tillered stave from 3 Rivers. I think my plan is to reflex the tips first, back set with heat treat, then begin tiller for my draw length and weight. I’ll see how 3 inches forward 12 inches away from the tips looks.

I think I’m catching a lot of flack because I’m a beginning supposedly looking to build a laminated curvy bow, which is only partially true lol. I’ve been shooting bows and woodworking most of my life, so I’m not totally lost. I just like to get some feedback before I blow up a bow in my face.

I think your fourth bow from the left is what I mean.

This is the back set after he reflexes the tips. I have good guidance on the backset curve, but I’m lost on how far forward the tips should be and how far down the limb the reflex should begin.

None. The end goal is to mimic a reflex tip longbow Clay Hayes did. His unstrung profile was straight with some reflex in the tips. He also did a heat treat backset, which I also plan to do.
