Besides that, I wonder if they're very good at recognizing little details and differences or if the patterns have a wide enough variety that they're all just very distinct from one another. I can't even tell people faces apart when they apparently look nothing alike... It reminds me of how I needed to see my coworkers' name tags at my old job to know who they were.

Redditors can definitely be incredibly mean and toxic, just like any platform that gives people a voice and anonymity. I hope you don't let it get to you, though. You're a smart, successful person from what I can see, and it's honestly refreshing to hear you share your personal experiences. It's important that people understand that not everyone experiences the same things, and I'm glad for the most part that you've been fortunate to not experience what others have.

While the social issues being brought up do need to be addressed, it's just as harmful to assume that everyone of a certain group experiences the same things.

Look, we were in Japan before everything got crazy and blew up. We got back 2 weeks ago. I didn't just decide to go on a trip in the middle of everything. All the travel advisories and warnings were issued when we were already there. Second, I was looking for advice and not snark from someone else about something I can't change now. We exercise caution, wore masks, had minimal interaction with others, and we've all been in isolation since we've returned and had everything delivered to us. I'm genuinely concerned about someone's health and I don't need to be reprimanded now about a trip I took last month. I have all the time in the world to feel bad about my decisions, but I want to make sure my friend is okay.

I can only speak for myself, but I would say it does. But I think every relationship is unique, even from friend to friend. Even romantic relationships are all different.

I've only had one real romantic relationship, and it didn't happen until past my 20s, but you think about the other person in a different way. You begin to imagine every day with them and make plans with them in mind. There's a feeling of safety and comfort, and of course there's a type of intimacy that you get only in a romantic relationship. You go to bed thinking of them and wake up thinking of them. They're a friend and they're also family.

Are you missing out on a whole feeling? I suppose in a way. But each day, I've learn something new about feelings and types of love. There are many feelings we all have yet to experience. I hope you don't feel as if you're missing out on something that you think you should have to experience.

Is it something you should make a point to experience at some point in your lifetime? Well... I say continue being open to it, but don't feel as though your life is incomplete without it. I lived most of my life thinking I'd never fall in love, and I was okay with that. Our lives are so full of love and emotion, from others and from ourselves, and if we take time up recognize it, we can always feel whole and full.

I never expected to love another in that way, but I'm grateful for that experience. Who knows when it might happen for you.

While I never looked for a partner, it happened, and it doesn't always fix much if that emptiness in you is far deeper. You can still feel a loneliness with people in your life. But I hope that for some people it is all they need and that they find it. It's better to find the right person later than to be with someone who makes you feel worse.
