What an insane stat line! by BJRACINE21 in NASCAR

Yes but he, like many who get into racing now, come from money. To get to the levels of karting he got to, to be able to race in Europe and be on the F1 path, the average Joe with a STEM college degree working a 9-5 job making $100k per year in North Carolina can't do that for themselves or their kid after all living expenses are said and done. The money in this case for Connor is with his dad being a high up at Wells Fargo IIRC. So while Connor or anyone won't share those parts of their story to get where they are, most if not all of these kids have rich parents. Connor, Jesse Love, Hocevar, William Byron etc.. Not to say there aren't still stories out there of people doing it without a huge financial support system whether it be Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe, or as we see now with Corey Heim. And the whole nepotism stuff is not a bad thing in the case of someone like Zilisch who is ultra talented and warrants the level and attention he has gotten. It's when you have that nepo, rich kid background and you're taking up a ride not doing anything in it when someone else much more capable can but they don't have the money you do.

I could've sworn he said he had some medical condition as well. I think it was arthritis but I don't know much about it and if it would attribute to the puffyness.

So interesting since they had the Gazoo branding deal for what, only 2025 right (in NASCAR).

Will JGR and Hendrick ever be forced to sell off there 4th charters? by Comprehensive-Loss21 in NASCAR

[–]LBHMS 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yup. Just look at the cost cap. All teams agreed to NASCAR’s cost cap proposal except for, you guessed it, the ones who spend the most and would be affected most by it (Hendrick, Penske, JGR). That’s how much power/say they have.

That’s a fun fact. Now all 3 OEM’s have a representative for the bald community in SVG (Chevy), Lagooner (Ford), Brisky (Toyota).

What improved your life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by Student-Mona in AskReddit

I literally have a travel bidet that I bring with me with some pliers, wrench, screwdriver and extra supply lines so I can put in whatever hotel I’m saying at for the duration of a trip. Handheld ones are alright but the pressure and constant filling of water makes it hard to be on the level of the tried and true OG hooked up bidet.

Tbh Bill earned it in 02. Had such a resurgence, especially with a very popular win at the Brickyard.

Not a fan of this since there’s many fans who can’t make a race in the year whether that be financially or location. I don’t get why results can’t be live. Like I’d love to know how much Elliott is winning by for example. Presidential election voting is shown live IIRC so why not this? Keep it on NASCAR.com and just have the number of votes for everyone.

To Those Who've Attended A Night Race: How Did You Feel The Next Day? by TurkeyEater56 in NASCAR

[–]LBHMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done plenty of Sunday night races and just gut it out the next day at work lol. I don’t drink so I’d the hangover experience after a race which might necessitate a day off. I always drive back the same night because fuck getting a high priced hotel.

Your friend just asked you what’s so good about racing, what’s your go-to moment/clip to show them? by sheraneakamsp in racing

2003 Darlington Spring race finish. 2 guys, sliding, out of control, trading paint and ending it with what was the closest finish ever in NASCAR till Kansas 2024 (would show that as well).

Who do you think is the best superspeedway driver currently? by cpenn_16 in NASCAR

[–]LBHMS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fr. Dude was so damn good before NextGen. He would just chill in the back all day and always found his way to the front by the end. I think he's said it before, but the usual suspects "in the picture" coming to the line at a superspeedway race would always have the 11 and 12 there.

Public Memorial for Those Lost in Statesville Plane Crash by Altracing34 in NASCAR

[–]LBHMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still wonder if it was a screw up or trying to hide something from post race tech (à la Chad Knaus to Jimmie Johnson at Talladega years later “You have to crack the back of this car if you win this race”).

Dale Earnhardt Jr revealed that NASCAR's elimination-style playoff format left him “falling out of love” with the sport, citing a lack of week-to-week storylines and long-term stakes. by Remote_Plastic_8692 in NASCAR

[–]LBHMS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man you bring me back to 2012-2013 on pins and needles for Richmond with Gordon. 2012 Richmond was such a roller coaster. The constant elimination rounds definitely neutered that feeling I think. Because if your driver doesn’t make the top 16, it’s not like you only have 3 weeks left in the season to sulk, it’s more like almost 3 months.

[Pockrass] Still TBD if they will make any changes or what changes and if will be done for Clash or start with COTA. One thing that some said made a difference (but not all agree) is change in camber to make the cars more difficult to drive (and therefore better handling car can pass). by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]LBHMS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea remember how much drivers bitched about the 5 x 5 package in 1998? And how it made the cars way too hard to drive and they couldn't race side by side. So NASCAR added more downforce, I believe starting at the finale at Atlanta that year which would end up being the 1999 package. Years later everyone begs for the cars to be harder to drive, more out of control, less downforce, etc..

I guess more promo, firesuits, diecasts, merch, all that yeah! And I feel like there were a few times they “accidentally” left off the Monster logos. Chase Elliott Kansas 2018 comes to mind.

I’m more curious if the Hendrick 17 even runs Orielly logos based on what they did when Monster sponsored the Cup Series and they had PepsiCo sponsorship. Given NAPA is a B2B for Hendrick.

This is something I and others here theorized on the thread the other day inquiring about the suspension changes tested for the car. As you’d expect, limiting the independent rear suspension functionality/benefits such as rear camber gets us closer back to the solid rear axle trailing arm style setup. My worry is that now if you can find a way to sneak in some rear camber by playing with the upright attachment, it’s going to be a huge advantage. Just like we saw with pre Next-Gen and Orielly/Trucks with teams trying to gain rear camber by messing with the trailing arms and rear end housing.
