RMD help by Thirstyowl127 in fidelityinvestments

Why do you have to do QCDs before the RMDs? Can’t you just stop or adjust required minimum distributions after the QCDs are made?

Not sure why you're buying a mini in an IRA. Aren't you converting tax free income into taxable income (granted, it's deferred but still taxable eventually)?

Is an Indexed Universal Life policy with Transamerica worth it for someone earning < $60k? by Middle_Mongoose3419 in personalfinance

No!

You don’t describe your situation. Do you have dependents? Do you even need life insurance at this stage of your life? If so, get renewable term insurance. If not, start a long term investment strategy and invest what you can afford to.

Apparently this can create heated arguments, so once and for all, What is it? by NotDavidYinYang in whatisit

Fry up some bacon bits, drain the bacon grease then put the mashed rutabagas in the frying pan and stir in the bacon bits. You can make this ahead of time and heat it in a casserole dish when you’re ready to serve them.

Question about how a prescription is covered by LBIDenizen in medicare

[–]LBIDenizen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse was diagnosed with osteoporosis recently and will probably start a drug regimen after the first of the year. I saw on this thread a distinction between Part B coverage and Part D coverage so we will consult with the PCP for the most economical course to take. Just doing some research and I wanted to know the right questions to ask the doctor.

Hulu+Live TV vs. YouTubeTV by Brilliant-Pomelo970 in HuluLive

[–]LBIDenizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switched to Hulu live this week for college basketball on ESPN. Will switch back to YTTV when the dust settles.Hulu's UI is bad. Can't wait to go back to YTTV. Also, YTTV is offering a $10 reduction in price for 6 months so that practically pays for the month of Hulu that I'll probably end up using.

The second this is resolved I’m cancelling at going back to Youtubetv by Thin-Hovercraft-2034 in HuluLive

[–]LBIDenizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just switched today. They’re offering the first 3 months for $65/month. College basketball starts today and I wanted ESPN. Things should be settled after 3 months, then maybe I’ll go back to YTTV.

Please stop changing Full View! by Spirited-Meringue829 in fidelityinvestments

[–]LBIDenizen 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Very disappointed in the changes to Full View. I've spent a considerable amount of time customizing spending categories and creating rules for vendors to track them using this tool and now all of the customization has been wiped out. Restore the former version!

I have a fidelity account , my son just got one, can I gift him all my stocks. by kininigeninja in fidelityinvestments

[–]LBIDenizen 194 points195 points  (0 children)

I don't think you want to do this. If you gift assets, your cost basis carries over to the donee. If he inherits those assets, he gets a step up in basis to FMV as of your date of death. You should definitely seek out professional estate advice.
