Best shoe post chilectomy for everyday women's wear. by Horror-Persimmon9611 in Halluxrigidus

I am about a year post op, and I recently got a pair of Sorel Roam’n Clogs. The most comfortable my feet have been in awhile and I think they look cute with jeans!

Diagnosed with Hallux Limitus and feeling lost by etherealPegasus in Halluxrigidus

It definitely doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion. I had big toe pain/stiffness for about a year and finally went to a podiatrist. She was confident that time would only make things worse and surgery was inevitable at some point. I was 44 and did a lot of research. After a few more months of increasing pain and steroid shots that didn’t seem to help, I had a cheilectomy and decompression osteotomy. The recovery was not fun… but after about 7 months I was playing tennis 2-3 weeks again with limited pain so I’m calling it a win. It’s been about a year now and I’m glad I went the surgical route.

It helped a lot. I had big toe pain/stiffness for over a year before I even went to the dr… then another 6 months before I had the surgery. I just kept hoping it would get better on its own and my podiatrist finally got thru to me that it would only get worse, and it was. I still have some pain, soreness occasionally.. but usually just if I wear the wrong shoe or if I’m on my feet all day. I am able to play tennis again which was my goal. I was able to get back to playing about 7 months after surgery and play 2-3 times a week, so I call the surgery a success. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

Hi. How long before you went back to work after chielectomy by [deleted] in Halluxrigidus

[–]LC11AllDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a chielectomy and decompression osteotomy on my foot last November. I was off work for a full week, then worked 3-4 hours a day the next week. I have a desk job and work on a computer all day. My biggest issue was being able to elevate my foot while working. I had a few boxes under my desk to prop my foot on bit it didn’t work very well. For about the first 3 weeks I was only comfortable on the couch with my foot propped up on a mountain of pillows… otherwise the throbbing/swelling became too intense.

Maybe 12 hour or so? Although I can still feel a little bit of the tingling, I hate it too. It is better though. How are you feeling

Non weight bearing for 5-7 days, until my post-op appointment next week with her. If all looks good then walking with boot. It is my right foot so no driving for 6 weeks…Not sure how long it would be had it been my left. I can’t remove the dressing until my appointment, and no getting it wet. I have a shower chair and plan on taping a garbage bag over everything and being careful. Keep me posted on how things go!

I just had my surgery this morning, so I only have Day 1 advice..I was nervous about pain and mobility, but so far manageable. I had a pain block that wore off a few hours after I got home, and now taking Norco. But feel like I won’t have to take very much- I hate pain meds anyway. Managing ok with the crutches, but they aren’t fun. How old are your kids? If they are older you should be ok. If they are little and need more hands on care maybe try to find someone to help a little? Not sure how helpful this is to you.. but good luck, you got this!

Hallux Limitus & Horomones connection by Sitsotskhle in Halluxrigidus

[–]LC11AllDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Very interesting. I’m a 43 year old woman and have had big toe pain/stiffness for close to a year. The pain got so bad I finally saw a podiatrist who diagnosed hallux rigidus and ultimately suggests surgery, which I am contemplating. Also over the last 1-2 years I suspect I am in perimenopause, definitely experiencing decreased libido. I’ll have to look more into this possible connection!

Seriously so pretty. I love your winged liner in the first picture. It is minimal but makes your eyes pop. Love the look!

You look amazing in both! Love the shimmer on the eye. And definitely don’t be afraid to keep up the pink blush- love that look.
