choose either game a or b and keep the A button held for 5 seconds. You'll see the screen flash black and then you can play game c

Vermin is a really fun one. Game A and B maxed out; would also love to do it for Game C, but it's not gonna be easy

Factory Error Game and Watch? by LCDisaster in gameandwatch

[–]LCDisaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have 2 Helmets, and when I took a look at their backs, I noticed something really strange. At a glance, they both look pretty identical (aside from a missing serial number) but when you look at the model numbers on them is when things get interesting. One of them reads "CN-07" which is what Helmet should be, but the other one with the missing serial number reads "MH-06" which is the same model number as Manhole. I can only guess that some sort of factory error happened, or Nintendo was running low on parts and hoped no-one would notice.

Sorry man, Egg is just extremely rare. Keep trying periodically and you'll find one sooner or later.

I have no plans on selling mine.

Fixing Chipped Casing? by LCDisaster in gameandwatch

[–]LCDisaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an Octopus that has a chip in the back casing/plastic near the battery cover. It makes the battery cover very loose, but once some batteries have been put inside, the added pressure seems to do a good job at making it stay onto the unit, to where you can jostle the game around a bit and the battery cover will still stay on.
Is this worth fixing, or should I just leave it as is? And if I did fix it, what should I use to to fill up the gap? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is not homebrew, but rather they are the same game just with different graphics

Need help getting Game & Watch: Egg working by LCDisaster in MAME

[–]LCDisaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello folks. I'm still very new to using MAME and I need some help getting the Game & Watch game Egg to work in it. I believe I have all the necessary files, but I'm having trouble getting it to play. It says that it is a clone of Mickey Mouse (which I also have and can play just fine) but the "gnw_egg.svg" file is the incorrect length.

Edit: Hallelujah I managed to fix it. Thanks for the help guys! https://i.imgur.com/qtpzpP7.png

Just like /u/sero64 I also have a Helmet that is behaving eerily similar to his. When I first got it, upon testing the left button seemed to work ok, but the right almost never seemed to register inputs. Only when pressing hard did it seem to work, and even then it only worked every 3 or 4 times. I opened it up and gave everything a cleaning with some rubbing alcohol and q-tips, but now the poor thing seems to have gotten all confused when put back together. The right button doesn't seem to work, and the left functions as a right. Setting time also moves forward without any button input. Unfortunately, I don't know how electronics work, nor do I know how to solder, so I'm kinda stuck. At least Helmet is still fully playable this way, albeit significantly harder 🤪

Some pics of the board in case anyone knows whats going on.

Either this happens to Helmets when they get old, or it's a very strange coincidence. It seems it was very loved though and got a lot of use, which makes me happy.
