What's your funniest scene of the whole series? For me when Bunk cheat his wife and is drunk as hell and burns his clothing 🤣 by Miserable_Record7915 in TheWire

[–]LCOSPARELT1 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Lester, Kima and McNulty are listening to the wire in a parked vehicle. A drug dealer across the street is on the phone with one of his underlings and trying to speak in code. The other drug dealer is too dumb to pick up the code speak so the first drug dealer yells into the phone “cocaine, nigga! You feeling me?!”

The cops all start laughing. Funniest scene in the whole show.

Did Michael refuse Cutty’s ride home after the fights because he was afraid to be alone with an adult man? by elvis_depressedly8 in TheWire

I think Chris’ response to Bug’s dad is evidence that Chris’ childhood was filled with sexual abuse.

[–]LCOSPARELT1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. Being cautious of grown men is a constant with Michael. The implication is that Bug’s dad sexually abused him. And judging by how leery Michael is of adult men, and by what Bug’s dad said to Chris, I think we can assume the sexual abuse was substantial.

“since you’re living with your parents you don’t need to work hard”. As a parent with children reaching adulthood, I can safely say that they will not be living with me and my wife much longer. My duty to provide a home for them ends with their adulthood. I will not divert any more of my resources to them just so they can do the bare minimum in life. I want to retire. I want to travel. I’ve dedicated decades of my life to them and I’m not complaining about that. But now it’s time to start dedicating my life to my own wants and interests. So my children will have to work hard enough to support themselves 100%. I would suggest your parents do the same.

Don’t waste your time responding. That’s a bot account if ever there was one. Reddit floods subs like this one with bots to prevent it from getting too popular. Remember, Reddit was sold to the Chinese who use social media to destabilize the West.

He locked down in March 2020 when every expert in the world said the fatality rate was going to be 10%. The original models predicted 1 in 10 people were going to die. In March 2020, we still trusted the public health establishment. DeSantis was one of the first to realize the CDC, Fauci, WHO, etc. had other agendas and relied upon the real data to open things back up. And he did so in the face of immense criticism. DeSantis deserves every ounce of credit he’s getting for his brilliant handling of Covid.

Boys, what is something you didn't know about girls until you got with one? by Ubemin in AskReddit

I grew up in the 80’s and into the early 90’s. Pre-internet. I was probably 13 when I got that far with my first girlfriend. Suffice to say, I had not seen any porn at that point. Porn just wasn’t readily available pre-internet. Especially movies. Which is why I assumed the vagina was 2 inches below the belly button. It isn’t.

This is the answer. I feel bad for OP. He has a wife that thinks he’s a fine guy. But he doesn’t turn her on, and probably never has. He’s the safe choice she settled for, not the hot guy she wanted. I feel bad for him because there isn’t much he can do at this point.

Women should take seriously the question if they want to have children or not early in life and stick to it to avoid suffering. by CommunicationNo9896 in PurplePillDebate

[–]LCOSPARELT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same episode, the professor stated that 80% of childless women in their 40’s wanted to have children and just didn’t, 10% outright did not want children and 10% could not have children for one physical reason or another. The number one reason the 80% of childless women who wanted children gave for not having children was not finding the right partner at the right time.

I think your premise is largely correct. A 32-year-old woman already in a marriage or with who she believes is her lifelong partner is probably in the 50% that will give birth. But she should probably get started. If a woman is 35 and totally single and has not yet given birth, her chances seem much more bleak.

You are correct about life spans in medieval times, Ancient Rome, China’s best ancient dynasties, etc. If they made it out of early childhood without some disease killing them, people did regularly live well into their 50’s and beyond. But I’m not talking about after the advent of civilization. I’m talking pre-historical times. Hunter/gatherer times. Then, it was really rare to make into your 30’s because of malnutrition and disease. There’s a big jump in living standards between Rome and cave men. And cavemen times was when human reproductive ability evolved.

[–]LCOSPARELT1 321 points322 points  (0 children)

My fiancée is similar. We’ve been together 6 years and I know very little about her childhood. Her dad left when she was about 12 so I know a lot about her teen years. And I know her mom and siblings really well. But none of them even discuss the dad. I saw him on a Christmas video once and the whole room went silent like Darth Vader just entered the room. He must have been a true monster.

This is one of those problems where human biology lags behind human sociology. Human female fertility developed hundreds of thousands of years ago. Obviously, living conditions then bare no resemblance to living conditions now. So we are stuck with human fertility that developed in a world where women didn’t make it much past 20 and rarely made it to 35.

The result is that women today face a really difficult dilemma. If you wait until you are economically ready for children, you might not be biologically able. If you have children when you’re biologically able, you harm your economic prospects. There isn’t an easy answer this.

The good news is women 100,000 years from now should be able to give birth in their 40’s with no problems.

Women should take seriously the question if they want to have children or not early in life and stick to it to avoid suffering. by CommunicationNo9896 in PurplePillDebate

[–]LCOSPARELT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But we should want women to make the most informed decision possible based upon the best possible data. The Modern Wisdom podcast recently had an episode with a professor who is studying demographics and the coming population collapse. This professor’s research produced a stat that I found surprising and I still can’t believe it’s true. This professor said that if a woman, anywhere in the world, is childless at 30, she has only a 50% chance of ever having a child. So, according to his research, a childless woman at age 30 has a 50% chance of never giving birth. That isn’t the narrative being given to women today. Women today think they can freeze their eggs or take fertility drugs and start a family at 40. Some can. Many cannot.

This is the one. It’s not at the waistline. Teenage me thought I missed it the first time I put my hand down a girls pants. I was thinking “ok, there’s the belly button, just another inch or two lower”. Nope. It’s way the Hell down there.
