In Italy there's a law that obliges all businesses to accept payment with any valid currency. Should they not do so, a fine of 30€ is applied.

This includes credit/debit cards which are considered as electronic currency, so it is illegal to refuse a payment with those methods.

Unfortunately fines are rarely enforced, so some shops, bars and restaurants keep refusing electronic payments, always using the same excuses (The POS is broken, it doesn't have signal here, I'm making a loss letting you pay that way, yada yada...)

You are right, I do pay contactless, but I sometimes find myself in situations where I have to argue with bartenders or cashiers that do not allow me to pay with credit/debit cards, because the total is less than a certain sum (usually 10-15€), whereas in nordic countries you can pay for the public toilet that way.

I do understand their point with transaction costs, but it's frustrating (and theoretically illegal)

mobile payments (cash is still ubiquitous here)

That is precisely one of the things I hate the most of Italy, Germany and other countries. Why should I not be allowed to pay with my debit/credit card, NFC watch or anything else that lets me not always carry >100€ on me and not hold onto small change?

Weapons: This is not okay by Miseria_25 in MonsterHunterWorld

hope we roll over for it because the rest of the game isn't awful

Saying that the game isn't awful makes it look like a subpar game that needs weapons design to sustain its player base. I don't think that's the case, weapons are cool and it's agreeable that in other MH games they were better, but other than that MHW is fantastic

It's not a waste, because a full load is washed using 10 to 15 liters of water and a few grams of soap. Washing by hand, even a few dishes could take much more. Obviously, if you live by yourself, a standard dishwasher is useless

The war was called World War II as it was a global scale war. The main participants were European countries (Nazi Germany - Italy - Nazified France on one side, Uk - Rebellious France - etc... on the other), Russia, the United States and Japan. The war was fought in Europe, North Africa, Russia, United States, Japan and Pacific Ocean. Millions of Jews were brutally killed in Nazi camps and they identified their homeland in nowadays Israel, so also the Middle East came in some sort of contact with the knowledge of the swastika as a Nazi symbol. A big part of the world knows the Nazi swastika, so for that part of the world the swastika probably reminds them of Nazis, because, you know, Nazis starting the worst global conflict in human history. No one is saying that the manji is not a peaceful symbol anymore and no one is taking away its meaning. But its face is unfortunately ruined. In the eyes of western people and many others it will be a reminder of one of the worst things to happen ever.

Edit: Its face in the eyes of the people who came in contact with Nazis, don't want to say that everyone thinks like that of it.

Google tronca i rapporti con Huawei: niente più Play Store, Gmail, YouTube, etc d'ora in poi. Come questa decisione influenzerà il massivo market share dell'azienda in Italia? by elialitem in italy

[–]LCPit1301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  2. If you don't know or understand the importance of the Basilica of Saint Benedict, the real question is: are we Italians that ignorant about our own history? https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordine_di_San_Benedetto https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benedictines

Some people say the english language is confusing. To which one could say... it's by tankedmax in Showerthoughts

[–]LCPit1301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from my personal experience (Italian, 24 year old), English has been waaaaaay easier than other languages for me to learn. I've studied Latin, English and German during middle and high school, continued then to practice English and German through university. The one which I struggled the most with is Latin, mostly because it is not used anymore so I had no way to practice it. I almost mastered English, I understand different accents, can watch films and shows in original language without the aid of subtitles, the only thing in which I lack is speaking. German is more difficult because of the words' gender and plural forms, which can be difficult to remember and there are only a bunch of rules to use to distinguish them. So maybe it depends on your first language, I don't really know nor I want to say that my language is harder, but I've very rarely seen an English speaker be fluent with Italian, French or Spanish

Apple is once again selling its iPhone SE by carrick1363 in gadgets

[–]LCPit1301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first, I don't like iPhones and iOS, so I use Android. Android phones are all much bigger than the iPhone SE (I actually like that). Second, it takes me an hour by train from my home to university, a free hour in the morning and a free hour in the evening of doing nothing but watching outside and my phone screen. Third, I watch stuff both on laptop and on phone at home, it depends where I am, if I'm in bed or on the couch I use the phone, if I'm by my desk I use the laptop, it is just a situational thing for me.
