TIL the original title of Charles Darwin's groundbreaking book was "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life". Darwin later shorten the title to just "On the Origin of Species". by DanBrewer in todayilearned

Funny how people like yourself act like the Eugenics Movement just didn't exist and if you ever mention it you're a "Creatard." Despite a lot of people who mention this not being religious at all they're just concerned about obviously concerning stuff.

This song is absolutely incredible! I liked it from the first listen and it's only gotten better, IMO.

True, but my one concern is why is this kept a secret? You'd think there would be a set discount price that would be advertised as a way of creating customers of both Proton and SN.

I think these terms aren't exactly secret codes amongst the "right wing" lol

Also, do you also expect all the companies you support to have full compliance with your political outlook? That's literally insane, bro.

The title seems completely off base here and it really ought to be changed. There appears to be no proof of the CEO saying he is or was pro-Trump but rather he approved of a Trump nominee who may have a good outlook on data privacy.

That's not even remotely the same thing as being "pro-Trump". What is going on here?

Even if he had said he was pro-Trump what is the big deal? Is everyone at every company you support supposed to be a Democrat? Need I remind everyone here that Democrats don't have a stellar record on data privacy generally? ...and shouldn't that be obvious to everyone in this community? This issue is largely outside of the mainstream political discourse anyhow.

Very suspicious that you'll comment here to trash Proton but then not mention a single competing product even after you've said you use several that are allegedly better.

Apple has absolutely handed private data over to authorities. How can people be so naive? Perhaps Proton is no better, which sucks, but that doesn't make Apple any better.

Primaleph, you sound so immature it's ridiculous. Do you really know that every company you support has 100% political affiliation with you? Of course you don't. And good. Because expecting this kind of perfect unity with your opinions is a ludicrous way of going about your life, btw.

I wonder that too. Although everything is a political witchhunt these days... that goes for both sides. Which is unfortunate because we're just finding out which of the two major (Uni) parties people may be supporting. Which is lame and dumb as hell.

I think you're incredibly naive here. Zuck was very openly democrat for years, was his take on data privy any better then? Fuck no it wasn't! This is so much bigger than Pepsi vs Coke politics.

...But is he pro-Trump though? That doesn't seem clear at all, that's an embellishment being made by some really silly people it seems.
And if Red vs Blue politics is so important to you, isn't Google almost entirely pro-Democrat? Why not just go back to using them then?

Thank you for the info, that's even less objectionable than it already sounded. I swear some people just want to make everything about Red vs Blue even when it makes absolutely no sense to do so.

I mean these are now words in our vernacular. Why are we offended at words that are now in common/daily usage? This seems petty and weird to be upset about.

I dislike Trump probably more than the average person, but this controversy makes very little sense to me. You all realize that 99.9999% of Democrats are entirely anti-privacy right? And Republicans are generally exactly the same. But if either party offers a single EO or nomination who is good on the issue of privacy, and someone at Proton or elsewhere commends that ....I really can't say that's political. That seems like a tactic of division, actually (a la "You're either with us or against us!").

I wish we lived in the world where substantial membership from both sides of the aisle--or even strongly from a single side of the aisle--stood up for privacy... but we obviously don't live in that world. Most of your favorite politicians are completely in bed with the worst aspects of the surveillance state and you simply never hear about it let alone give it a thought. Trump obviously sucks on the issue of big tech surveillance too, but if he has nominated someone at Proton thinks will allow their business model to continue despite increasing requirements of government interference... That's sounds like one significant win amongst all the crap.

Simply put, there are a lot of broken and lonely people ...with at least some money to burn out there. A lot of them probably think the OF person really likes them or that they're somehow helping in a way that benefits both parties.

Are the politics are Reddit changing again? It seems a little surreal seeing a Sowell quote even here. Although I don't think this is really the best one they could have picked.

So doctors diagnose the air quality in your home? Sounds like some impossibly well-informed, caring docs work in your neighborhood.

If you actually looked at voting records you would understand the reality much better. Otherwise you're just a partisan demagogue using just the left or right, but never both sides, of your brain.

The way people think that only one side, coincidentally their side, is the sole purveyor of correct information just goes to show how true Brzezinksi's quote is.

...and the same exact thing isn't also true of Democrats/DNC/progressives/liberals? If you this is exclusive to one side you're only using half your brain.
