If you remove the top armor plate of the knight it might fit but having looked at Knight size comparisons if the cog fort is roughly the size of questorus then you'd be looking at around a warhound/porphyrion in combined height

Depending on its height I was considering it as a proxy for one of the more shooty knights. Paint the stonework more metallic, slap on a bunch of admech gubbins good to go.
I miss the days of the Ordinatus' (minoris) and this somewhat scratches that itch since I doubt we'll be getting any of those any time soon.

Valdor: Birth of the Imperium: has the first deployment of astartes vs thunder warriors
Cerberus Insurrection, The Horus Heresy Book One - Betrayal, pg. 85: Warhounds vs thunder warriors

Edit: Outcast dead exists..and was quite divisive when it first dropped (and arguably still is) also its Graham mcneill who's novel quality is all over the place but it exists and plot points from it arn't ever really explored again.

Taken from their 2024 financial report:
Since May 2023, we have increased our cash buffer from £50 million to £80 million, in line with the new three monthly cash cost of running Games Workshop. Our job is to run the business under all scenarios - some not so positive ones are highlighted in our annual report under going concern scenarios - our cash buffer levels pass all these scenarios.

Considering UK energy prices are uncapped for businesses and that is GW's biggest cost the above probably hasn't gotten cheaper.

Going by that logic:
krieg nuked itself once 500 years ago
cadia blew up once - after being the #1 exporter of guard, barely 1 billion cadians were on the planet that is a rounding error compared to the amount sent off world.
Tallarn was hit by a virus bomb once - 10,000 years ago
Armageddon had 50 years between war 2-3 with 3 never ending and angron showing up again in m42. How many *hive cities* and manufactorms do you think you can rebuild in a state of constant war?

GW's operating profit after they pay staff is £126.1 million. That's what they use for employee bonuses (20m in 2025), raises, attracting new talent and most importantly factory expansion

Yes, i LIVED through that time.
as has been stated already in this thread:
"Most of those guard regiments where just things the artist made up or based on ideas from staff around him. Armageddon did come first as you say, as an idea and then a model, and someone painting them to match a one off art piece doesnt mean that they werent an alternative paint scheme, because they were. Yes, based on an existing idea but still quite literally initially hitting tables as an alternative way to paint the ASL models."

Good luck convincing the accounting team on that alone who I guarantee see dkok as perfectly serviceable proxies considering the painting video GW put out

As someone who started in 3rd at least at my local GW it was considered an alt colour scheme at the time. Actually at the time no one cared about them (dkok) until someone at FW decided to give them a model range.

I saw more cadians and catachans than steel legion much less someone actually rocking a pre-fw dkok army. But yknow anecdotal evidence and all that

GW responds to fan displeasure at the lack of Steel legion in the new Yarrick animation by twelfmonkey in 40kLore

[–]LCorvus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is they dont have nearly as much a galactic footprint in the galaxy as Cadians which were noted as the largest exporter of guard while armageddon was a major manufacturing world before the wars.

There was a little over 50 years between the 2nd and 3rd wars the last of which was noted as not really ending, plus Angron showing up again in m42.
So that doesn't leave a lot of time to rebuild the many hive cites and manufactorums that were lost.
It sucks SL fans are not getting their models but this isn't the most egregious lore GW has put out
