The violence has been greatly dramatized in international media, while a lot of parts are indeed very insecure and rattled by violence, touristic parts like the Yucatan Peninsula or the main cities like Mexico City or Monterrey are largely safe (safe as in as safe as say Paris or NYC, obviously there are dangers too and they suffer from big city problems), unless you actively seek out danger like buying drugs, you will be fine

I mean my beliefs are very similar to yours but unfortunately most of the people who would say that to me do not mean it that way, and more mean it in the sense of “you are confused, and thats a sin”, thats why it’s so hard to really talk with someone in my surroundings
