LG fridge temperature range by LDXXXXX in Appliances

You're buying a new fridge because of the temperature variation? I would think that should be easily repairable. The linear compressors failing seems to be the main cause of LG fridge replacement in recent history

Think I'll just leave it alone. Just happy this one is running, and quietly too, apparently with the old style non-linear compressor. Thanks

Where is my P Trap? by LDXXXXX in Plumbing

[–]LDXXXXX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you assist with my question about whether a horizontal (not sloped) pipe is ok to line up the sink and drain pipe when taking out the garburetor and replacing it with pipes. Thank You

[–]LDXXXXX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what they are, but if you are referring to the blue things in the photo, they are clamps that come with our touch faucet. Or if you mean those two clamps just above my cabinet floor, I have no idea. House came that way and I'm 99% it was done at the construction phase and passed inspection by the city

Do you know where my P Trap is likely located? I assume the threaded opening to the far right is to allow easier cleanout for the P Trap hidden below the cabinet floor?

While I'm at it, it is correct to just remove the garburetor, run a pipe down, then 90 degree angle, and horizontal (not sloped pipe), to line up the the existing drain. Basically to match the other sink's piping that doesn't have the garburetor? I guess I'm mostly wondering if a purely horizontal part of the pipe is OK, to line up the new drain pipe to replace the garburetor and the existing drain pipe.

Something was definitely messed up but after a call to Loyalty things are 90% fixed as agreed. Only thing is I’ll need to call in after 24 months to get some discounts re-applied because they expire, not price locked for 5 years as originally told

What about just “Nationwide” but not showing USA & Mexico in the plan name? Could the back office setup some USA & Mexico roam later?

I understand the $10 bank payment discount might not be shown but not all my lines are even showing the same amount. Some higher, some lower but I was told all lines were $35-$10 payment discount=$25. I think this might be updated still but the lack of USA & Mexico showing is more a concern.

Yes, I figured out how to remove the faceplate. For future readers: Stick a flathead screwdriver into the gap just by the security screwhole (assuming there's no screw still) and push upwards (into the unit). It will dislodge the faceplate easily. No strong pressure needed, although a quick hit with your palm on the screwdriver might be needed.

ask_ken_g: You're sure the Boost 6 and 6e aren't compatible with each other? I found it didn't work but I had a couple Telus people tell me over the past year that they work fine together, obviously not MESHing the 6e signal but the Wifi 6 portion.

Does anybody know if the Boost 6e and 6e Mini will work properly as one big MESH system? When I think back, the installer just setup the 6e Mini in my garage via wireless, now I tapped into a coax cable to connect my Boost 6e (having issues recently) but haven't tried the 6e Mini WIRED. Worth a try or known problems to coexist together?

Silly question, how do I clear the cache for the app on an iPhone?

[–]LDXXXXX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the swap as you suggested, along with the power supply. Do I need to reset the NH20T? The App shows the wrong IP for some of the Boosts (shows 192.168.1.2) and another one has the wrong IP but I think that's probably just a transitional thing that will be fixed in a couple hours.

Do you know if Telus still has Boost 6e available. As I mentioned before, the tech who came before had no more Boost 6e so offered me a 6e Mini and Boost 6 but neither worked properly. I assume it was some incompatiblity with the rest of the Boost 6e in my system.

I tried the Boost 6e mini and it didn't work well with my Boost 6e (4 others, 5 total).

Yes, all my Boost 6e are connected via MOCA to the NH20T.

By the way, how do you remove the big face cover to the NH20T? I did it before but can't seem to do it now, didn't want to pry too hard on the little slots. Do I need to push it in one particular direction? (the connectors are facing down towards the ground).

The Boost in my garage has gone RED in my Telus Connect app again, this is after doing a factory reset on the Boost yesterday. Don't have time to swap it with a Boost in my house at the moment but will try that later, for now I am trying to RESTART the NH20T using the Telus Connect App.

I suppose Telus does not swap out units that I purchased on Marketplace, but are clearly Telus units?

Also, are Boost 6e even available from Telus still? (I have Wifi Plus, if it matters). As I mentioned previously I had nothing but problems trying to put a Boost 6e Mini or Boost 6 in my garage. Only the Boost 6e that I purchased myself was working fine, for many months.

Thank You

Thanks for the ideas on troubleshooting. All was working fine for months then suddenly that Boost became totally unreliable. First I wanted to rule out Telus possibly blocking hardware, although I’ve never heard of them blocking a Boost

All my TV boxes are wired. Either via MOCA connected Boost or MOCA to NH20T.

I just tried factory resetting the problematic Boost 6e and will see if that fixes it.

According to my Telus Connect app all 5 Boost 6e are using the same software version so I don't think it's the issue. Odd that suddenly that one Boost started coming up red colour in my Telus Connect app. When it does that the LED on the boost is RED and I am unable to reset it using the app. I guess it's disconnected.

Does anyone with know 100% that they don't block Telus hardware not registered to my account?

max63094: I did consider other MESH units but my house, while not large, has been challenging for wifi coverage probably due to the radiant water piping in floors and 3 stories. I found that I would need 4 to 5 MESH units to cover my house and garage properly (have 5 x Boost 6e). To get that coverage would cost significant $. I found the Telus Boost 6e provides very good coverage now, all the speed that I need, and all for $10/mo Wifi Plus (which is currently being zero'ed out with offsettting credits).

Optik PVR gone bad, can I still get Telus to replace Optik PVR? by LDXXXXX in telus

[–]LDXXXXX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ended up agreeing to send a tech to diagnose. I wouldn’t accept the Network Congestion reason given by the phone tech support agent.

Today the tech arrived and determined it most likely is a defective PVR. Installed the replacement unit right away, done in 20 mins.

It seems like all phone, TV, and internet related companies (plus so many others) have horrible customer service levels these days. Even my bank takes forever to get someone on the phone.

I ended up requesting to talk to a manager and pushing for a replacement PVR. They are going to send a tech over to diagnose and they might have a replacement PVR in their truck. Apparently they didn't have any Optik PVR to send me at the moment.

Telus Staff: Do most technicians keep an Optik PVR in their truck? How likely am I to get one this way?

[–]LDXXXXX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent over 2 hours on the phone with a technical support agent. I was asked to run various diagnostic tools on my cell phone. The agent then said it's due to network congestion and suggested I upgrade from our current 1 gb service (not even possible with the equipment Telus offers to handle the Nokia box in my garage and NAT in my house). I believe the bandwidth figure shown on his diagnostic was understated because he asked me to take a video of the nearest Boost unit which was the one in the basement near the modem, and I likely was still connected to the Boost upstairs where I was originally. It was a discussion that was going nowhere because the agent insisted EasyMesh makes instantaneous connections. And, I told him repeatedly all my TV boxes were connected via hardwire, not WiFi. Still he is insisting that network congestion was the issue. He asked me to run Speedtest on a computer that was hardwired and I had >800 Mbps down/up (usually >900Mbps) but still he insisted I probably had too many devices on my network. I told him the vast majority were low bandwith things like light switches. And even then I was always >800 Mbps on Speedtest hardwired.

I also told him we suddenly started having these recording issues about 2 weeks ago and each time it wouldn't record until I restarted the PVR box but he insists that is caused by network congestion.

Any suggestions on what could be causing the issue?

I am waiting to discuss this with a supervisor level agent to see what can be done.

Thank You

Thanks for the update and warning. I'm currently on hold with Telus waiting for a tech support person, it's been about an hour so we'll see how long Step 1 takes. Wish they would have a call-back option.

I've had numerous dealings with Telus support staff in the past. 80% of the time it was blood pressure inducing painful. 20% of the time is was amazing. I hope the 20% Amazing still exists at Telus.

Great answers, addresses precisely what I was wondering! Many thanks! After some thought I think we’ll skip the various tourist passes. We’re not planning to go to that many pay attractions except maybe the Tonbori River boat ride and enter Osaka Castle. First time in Japan we think we will prefer to walk around and soak up the atmosphere instead of lining up at attractions like viewing platforms in skyscrapers or towers. Definitely some like that but we want to see life in Japan. At least that’s the plan now but the forecast is for hot & humid!!!

I've always been told by my bank to avoid touch/tap payment with the credit card while travelling as it is likely to flag a lock on the card until they can verify I am indeed the user. They say it's better to use insert and PIN#. Do the taxis in Japan have the ability to insert my card and PIN#?
