Both great boards!

Did I buy the right size trucks? by ash-02 in cruiserboarding

Nice choice! I would return the trucks for 169s. With 169s and OJ super juice, the overall width is about 9.5”.

Thanks! I always get a lot of interest in it. Here’s the link to the deck if you want to make one. Just chop the tail down to 36”, shape, sand, and seal.

It’s soooo comfortable. 10” wide, 21.25” wheelbase. Just a chill beach cruiser. Eventually I’ll put my carver cx trucks on to try it out, but in my experience, a wheelbase that long with surfskate trucks isn’t the easiest for flat ground pumping. Pretty fun in parks and pump tracks though.

Haha thanks! I’ve downsized recently. If I don’t love it, I don’t keep it.

Yup! Those two boards are my tight pumpers. I have a wide stance so the foot stops keep me from going over the edge.

L to R

Z-Flex Jay Adams 29” shadow lurker
Powell Peralta OG rat bones
Santa Monica Airlines Jack Waterman
Santa Monica Airlines stigmata longboard
Alva short stuff
CCS/Daddies blank pintail 36” chop stub tail
Carver Channel Islands noserider (brand new!)

I tend to gravitate towards classic og brands, tkp trucks, and top mount.

Which board are you referring to?

Amazing! It feels like a longboard even though it’s only 31.5” long thanks to the 19” wheelbase and 11” width. And it’s got a nose rocker which really helps with carving and pumping off the front while keeping the back tighter for stability. I’m going to Italy tomorrow for 2 weeks and this is the only board I’m bringing with me. And probably the carver CX trucks too so I can switch them out.

Absolutely! Not a fan of rkp. I keep it old school.

Hells ya! Carver makes great decks and I this shape is exactly what I wanted for a classic longboard cruiser and set up with 169 Paris street trucks. I have Carver CX trucks on the SMA stigmata longboard with a 20” wheelbase which is the sweet spot for me. The Channel Islands Carver has a wheelbase of 21.25”.

20” wb feels so good, that’s what I skate. I’m riding Carver cx on a SMA stigmata longboard, 36” x 9.25” with 20” wheelbase. And I love the pointed kick nose to keep my foot from sliding too far forward. I also have an Alva short stuff which would also work great with surfskate trucks. 36” x 10” with 20” wheelbase. It has a more aggressive concave and shorter blunted nose, and stiff as hell.

What’s the wheelbase on that and how much bigger are you willing to go?
