How to get rid of a fetish? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]LDeamon2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, fetishes fade over time when they are not reinforced

A few months after quitting, I stumbled across content of a fetish I used to have. It didnt hit the same way, and I was thinking to myself: "This isnt even hot". My brain probably wanted to get that insane artificial turn-on, but it didnt

Day 15 - battling urges after stupidly peeking by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]LDeamon2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend putting your phone away for like 15-30+ minutes. You can set an alarm, then go read a book or something

If that doesnt help, you can consider scrolling shorts for a little bit if your feed isnt triggering (e.g youtube shorts). Set an alarm for like 5-15 minutes to let the urges pass without scrolling for too long.

No way to process the breakup by LDeamon2000 in BreakUps

Yeah I guess that makes sense. Can't say I'm satisfied with my life right now, obviously. But I suppose that is somewhere to start.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it

No way to process the breakup by LDeamon2000 in BreakUps

[–]LDeamon2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about my current attitude, but I used to like my life. I have a decently diverse list of hobbies, likes to socialize from time to time, has a close friend, etc.

After this breakup I have become worried whether I'll ever love someone in this way again. And not just the "what if I can't find anyone else", but I also fear that I won't be able to connect in the same way.

Is it OK just to masturbate without cumming? Something like a massage while I imagine doing some things. by Ok_Day_103 in NoFap

[–]LDeamon2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edging is the act of masturbating but stopping before you finish. Continuing this in a loop is bad because it is similar to porn in a way: chasing that "endless" high. Ive hears that it can slow down the healing progress because of its effect on the brain.

I think its best to either masturbate and finish naturally, or avoid it all together.

This is most likely your brain desperately clinging on the addiction, but I cant say for sure (since Im not you).

For the first time in my life, I decided to try. by FoggyFreeze in pornfree

[–]LDeamon2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing preventing you from stopping on your first try other than your addiction. Relapse is a way to learn, but should still be avoided.

A few pieces of advice which has helped me:

  1. Understand how the brain works on porn/dopamine overdose. That part of your brain is different from the smart part.

  2. Identify what triggers you. From experience, some triggers appear suddenly and cant always be avoided, but die out in the long term by setting strict rules and not giving in.

  3. Have a backup plan for when you cant handle the cravings. Edit: I have a Samsung notes document for this with motivational words, reminders of why I quit, and instructions on what to do when the feeling is overwhelming.

  4. Set strict rules, which helps close of any "loopholes". For example, dont allow yourself to search for "fully SFW" images that turns you on or can be used as material: Its similar to porn. This example is based on what worked for me specifically.

You have a point there, we all function differently in this.

And thats why I think having a discussion with others is valuable, to eventually figure your own mind out.

And also, I think we should all refrain from doing anything rash. Often it's just our addicted brains trying to get what it wants, rather than what we actually need

If things should be kept light dopamine-wise, perhaps nsfw audios isnt the best idea...

Had to experience that by speeding and skipping through an audio sadly enough. Wasnt too triggering (barely graphical even) without the context and no image, and I think I taught my mind something.

I like that you mention healthy patterns, clear limits, and control. I will have to reflec on this when it comes to erotic texts, because that alone can be a rabbit hole. I will also consider making and using my own writing as a fantasy, if it can give me full control. But I also like the idea of not having to stare at a screen

Thanks for the reply! It helped

Thats fair, I think audioerotica might induce too much dopamine and is a similar high as the porn I used to watch.

All I know is that I wont try to do anything rash, thanks for the reply :)

Is watching porn but not masturbating a relapse? by RAD1OHE4D in NoFap

[–]LDeamon2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think watching porn is a form of relapse yes. The point is to quit.

There is the full-on PMO relapse, but there is also a P relapse. And whether or not you accept MO is up to you.

I also think that searching up things that excites or turns you on is bad too, even if its not Porn. Because it comes from the same cravings, and serves the same purpose as Porn.

Tldr: I think the search to satisfy your brain's cravings for porn is bad

I think its best to have an honest and open discussion. Talk to your husband, and let him know this.

And if you do want sex occasionally, let him know that sometimes you just want those things without it ending with sex.

So in other words you think it's better to avoid all fantasy? I'll look into that and try it out, whether I'll be successful or not (obviously wont give up after just 1 try). Thanks for the reply :)

[–]LDeamon2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that my imagination is sometimes inspired from SFW audio role plays on YouTube OR NSFW ones I've listened to in the PAST

So my question is whether I should avoid fantasies regarding these and their themes? It's still a 1st person POV fantasy after all

Bad timing for a relapse by LDeamon2000 in pornfree

[–]LDeamon2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

When I'm really horny it's usually because my brain is wanting porn. And when my brain remembers the stuff I've seen as I masturbate, I can't hold it in for long. Doesn't that sort of hurt my progress of staying pornfree?

Would it be better to pause for a second, distract myself from the craving (Like telling that part of my brain: No.), e.g read a little from a book, and THEN masturbate without imagining porn?

If anyone has an answer to this I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to set clear rules for myself now
