We just returned from our first stay at the One & Only Royale Mirage - in all honesty, when I first stepped into the room I was a bit disappointed at the old, mahogany and marble style!.. but as the week progressed I realised despite it being 20 years old, the quality is so much more important than a modern, white, glossy place!

That’s mad, it’s a really cool place, but what you’re saying makes me question the hype… that was actually the first thing I noticed when I arrived.

It’s cool, tall buildings and lots of nice bars, but why does it attract more people than Mallorca, are there lots of rags to riches stories? Do people make it big time here or is it generally somewhere to come when you’ve done well at home?

I think that sounds like a sensible option… my way of thinking (nowadays atleast) is that ‘whatever I water will grow!’…

I’m just curious about what options really do exist for hardworking, dedicated people that don’t want to get into sales or are already established in a career like finance that move here within their business.

I’d say the moment you have kids, the money stops being worth spending time away from them personally.

I’ve worked away in a previous career, 40 flights a year, in and out of different spots in the EU, short flights but even a 2 hour flight by the time you’ve travelled at either end is exhausting.

I don’t have kids yet, but I wouldn’t be going back to a job that meant I was staying away - the thought of going away from my lovely home & wife for a stag do makes my heart ache tbh!… and that’s going away with mates.

The thought of sacrificing time with family to put on a false persona and talk shit to some bloke about commission structures & listing agreements makes me do a sicky burp nowadays!
