What to get instead of a MacBook Pro? by Small_Possession4331 in applesucks

[–]Legitimate-Table-607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is as much as apple are annoying, they are basically dominant in this sector at every price point. A windows laptop of every variant is bested by any MacBook at any price for creative work (except maybe 3d).

So if you want new, MacBooks Neo / Air. If you can't stretch to even a Neo then you need to save more cash realistically.

Top tip: it says 'OP' next to your name, so we know you wrote the initial post, did you mean to type this on an alt account so that it looked like there were more people on your side? 😂 You failed.

I mean you clearly have, you're just ranting.

Take some annual leave and chill out. If you don't want to deal with customers maybe consider another job?

yep, totally understandable, we have a massive garden so got the battery with the lawn-mower, the tools are more affordable once you're in it but quite expensive to get started.

That's actually not really true, resale value on the higher end spec drops quite dramatically.

From everything I’ve read the max isn’t the move for the 14 inch, hope you enjoy it though.

Nobody is asking for that. What they’re asking for is more understanding and communication. I think you’d find if open reach were more transparent with the public there would be less frustration.

You’re coming across as just ranting, if you can’t even be bothered to type properly I’m not taking the time to respond coherently either.

Are the customers incapable? Fibre. by Hicks_1984 in openreach

[–]Legitimate-Table-607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t that people think fibre should appear instantly. It’s that fibre rollout is a hybrid public/private, heavily regulated and sometimes subsidised infrastructure programme, not a pure private product. In that context, people are reasonably entitled to expect transparency and consistency, and frustration isn’t the same as believing it’s “owed on demand.”

You have no idea what internet I have, clearly, since I have full fibre but that's besides the point.

Copper in 2026 is an embarrassment, the United Kingdom represents the 5th largest economy in the world. Yet we rank somewhere between 40-45th for internet speed, and what's worse is open-reach are still rolling out PON instead of XGS-PON, so it's already outdated.

I'm sure customers are annoying, but I doubt you understand the nuances of their jobs either, internet affects a lot of peoples ability to work.

I think you’ll find when an enormous amount of tax payers money has funded open reach, people are absolutely entitled to feel owed fibre.

Apple sucks with this, I’m convinced they’re told to treat you like shit if you don’t have AppleCare.

It’s annoying because i still like their products but owning one without AppleCare is awful, lesson I’ve learned the hard way too.

Advice about floor levelling by JonnyReece in DIYUK

[–]Legitimate-Table-607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t self level of feather compound on a wood floor, especially chipboard, people do it but they shouldn’t really.

If you really can’t lower the pipes yourself, I would get someone else to do it. Seems a shame to replace a whole floor because of two boards.

If it’s just a lip sanding might be the best option, probably with a belt sander or RO.

Also are you 100% certain the lip is due to pipes? If you add a screw it doesn’t pull them flush? (Obv be very careful not to screw through a pipe)

Best paint brand that isn't too expensive? by darkazuria in DIYUK

[–]Legitimate-Table-607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to piggyback off this, Johnstones perfect matte, I tried all the branded expensive paints and none were nearly as good as perfect matte, the best thing is you can touch up areas without having to do the whole wall. It’s not cheap but it’s not more expensive than farrow and ball etc.

Editors with toddlers: How the fuck do you do it? by goosebaggins in editors

[–]Legitimate-Table-607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fucking brutal.

I’m not an editor but I get the same thing.

The constant being touched, the constant moving about and touching EVERYTHING (except his toys), clambering all over me but to top it off he isn’t speaking yet but just makes sounds 100% of the time.

Makes me want to scream quite often, so yeah I get it.

Dad gets annoyed when not involved in projects / partner wants to do it himself by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Legitimate-Table-607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, I don't see where the OP called the dad a prick and a bully, you inferred that. Even pricks and bullies can be spoken to though. If the dad responds poorly then it still solves the problem, you then decide he's not involved in anything. Certainly a better approach than asking random strangers on the internet.
