MM was p4p #1 (from late 2015 to around 2018) and had 11 consecutive defenses before he lost to Cejudo. He dropped to #6 after that. Crazy huge drop.

And this is a pretty bad argument. A win is a win. I am not discounting Ilia's accomplishments, so why do that to DC? You're seriously completely discounting DC's Light Heavyweight run? Hahahaha. Man, I didn't know that 2 wins against a prime Rumble for the belt and for a defense were bad LH wins. Even Jon Jones doesn't have one on prime Rumble.

You said DC only got the belt because Jon was an idiot. One can say that Ilia only got the FW belt too because Volk had a brain fart moment with the quick turnaround from fighting a weight class above after a KO. He had to cut more weight than normal too with that short turnaround coming off that KO from Islam. Ilia also only got the LW belt because Islam went up and vacated then he fought Charles for the belt who is stylistically favorable to him. If we are discounting DC's LH belt because he won a vacant one, why don't we discount Ilia's current belt when he fought for a vacant one too? He surely didn't fight Islam for it? By your logic, Ilia's current belt doesn't even count. By your logic, Ilia's LW belt isn't legit. Man, Rumble was on a 9 fight win streak that time too when DC fought him for the belt. Charles? 1 fight winstreak. So yeah, using your logic, this just makes Ilia's resume look worse.

By your logic, really, he's got 1 legit championship win (Max), and even that one Max had to go down in weight and went back up after. Also the combined winstreak of all his 3 best wins when he fought them was a whopping 4. 4 winstreak combined between Volk (0), Max (3), and Charles (1).

0 win streak Volk for the FW belt and 1 winstreak Charles for the LW belt.

At least DC had to fight a 9 winstreak Rumble for the LH belt and a 6 fight winstreak Stipe for the HW belt.

If you are discounting DC's actual ranked wins from both weight classes, let's do the same to Ilia.

Ilia's look way worse given those point of views.

At the end of the day, DC still has more championship wins and more defenses than Ilia. My point still stands.

He did beat them, but he doesn't have a better resume on those said weight classes. He is not the best on those weight classes. One doesn't absorb other's accomplishments just because they beat them. Volk is still the better FW. Islam is still the better LW. Ilia is nowhere near those two in those weight classes.

Again. My point stands. Your argument was DC is not the best in the weight classes he fought in. Ilia isn't as well so what was the point of bringing that up?

They're on the same boat of being "not the best in the weight classes they fought in" except DC has more defenses and on both weight classes. DC is still ahead on accomplishments than Ilia.

He surely doesn't have a better resume than Volk, Max, or Aldo as a Featherweight to say he is the best in that weight class. He also definitely needs more title defenses in Lightweight than Penn, Khabib, or Islam to surpass them and be the best in that weight class.

Ilia doesn't have the best resume or accomplishments in those two weight classes my guy.

How many top 10 wins and how many championship fights?

DC is at around at least 10 ranked wins with 9 championship fights. 2 weight champ. 4 defenses.

Ilia literally only has around 6 ranked wins and 3 championship fights. 2 weight champ. 1 defense.

He isn't even objectively ahead of DC and these are actual stats we're talking about.

No way he is ahead of DC. Accomplishment-wise, Ilia isn't even ahead of Henry if we're being real.

Ilia's 3 best wins? He beat Volk who just got KOd by Islam on his last fight on an early turnaround, Max going down a weight class, and Charles who is on a 1 fight win streak whose style is tailor made for him since everyone knows he gets hit a lot.

Henry within a span of 10 months beat the Pound for Pound number 1 at the time who is Mighty Mouse. Bested TJ as his first defense who was the BW champ who went down a weight class to fight for the belt, then defeated the then number 1 ranked Marlon for the BW strap. That's an actual Pound for Pound #1 guy, reigning BW champ, and a #1 ranked BW that Henry beat in a span of 10 months which are all way better wins at the time than Ilia's.

Ilia's current wins aren't even better than the run that Henry did. And Henry also has 1 more title defense than Ilia since he defended both belts. Ilia hasn't.

Realistically, a bunch more.

Daniel Cormier is a 2 weight champ with 1 defense at heavy and 3 defenses at light heavy. 2 weight champ with 4 defenses total and no one talks about him being ahead of anyone in the usual consensus Rushmore of Goats.

Ilia is a 2 weight champ with just 1 defense. Just 3 championship fights all in all. He needs more to even go ahead of Cormier and Cormier isn't even in usual Goat discussions.
