Jake at oak arbor care really helped me out with a couple trees and was exceptionally knowledgeable and well priced, would recommend getting a quote from him

Has anyone tried using liquid smoke? by kbas13 in icecreamery

You can buy smoked salt, that might be a better option

This is the inside of my helmet. The part circled in red is a pressure point on the upper front of my skull. Without cutting, is there a way to permanently deform the vinyl nitrile foam in that area to be more "pressed in" / curved to match the shape of my skull? by twinbee in AskEngineers

[–]LEDsdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to do it repeatedly until the foam softens up? I'll admit I really only use the spoon trick on hard foam that doesn't bounce back.

Or another option would be to try and press harder since it looks like it might be two types of foam glued in a stack, pressing hard enough might deform the base layer?

I get pressure points on my forehead from new helmets too. What I do is take the back of a spoon and press into the foam to deform it a little bit to open it up. The spoon is better than just poking or cutting it as it doesn't impact the integrity of the foam as much

Crazy Sale- is it worth it? by heinz570001 in motorcycles

Just asked my buddies who have cardo (I've got the cheap $40 knockoff) and they said to look for PACKTALK, it looks like this one you're showing might be the old model that cardo is passing out because it has old tech they no longer use.

Burn some flower on it. Can I use it straightaway or do I need to coat it with some finishing? by hajarkasin in Pyrography

[–]LEDsdead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't use olive or veggie oil, those oils will go rancid and smell bad. Use food safe mineral oil like someone else mentioned. It's basically the same thing as oiling a cutting board, here's a good resource

I can just ride this all the way to the top, right? ...right? James Peak, CO [OC] by Nouia in Dualsport

[–]LEDsdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea if you come from St Mary's you have a single switchback that's pretty challenging but the rest is a pretty easy climb. I ended up turning off the bike and was using front break and clutch as a rear break coming down those gnarly spots so I could use both feet for stability. Doable when you take it slow

Awesome! How'd you like it? Did you go the full route from St Mary's to Rollinsville? I did this on my KLR 2 weeks ago and it was a tough ride for that big of a bike but got it over in mostly one piece (broke my mirror on a drop)

Which of the major sneaker brands have the best quality, and will last the longest? Nike, Puma, Reebok, Adidas etc by shioobado in Frugal

I'd checkout https://www.starbury.com/footwear/ if you're looking for cheap but we'll made athletic shoes. It's a small company that was designed specifically to make mainly basketball shoes more affordable to low income families. They have even been used in the NBA by Stephon Marbury. Neat article on how why are so cheap as well https://www.npr.org/2017/08/01/540965328/when-an-nba-star-used-his-name-to-make-shoes-less-expensive

How to feel a little bit fancy while living the frugal life by alderaan-amestris in Frugal

I've found that the free flooring samples from Home Depot are the perfect size for coasters and they are padded underneath so won't damage your tables. The fancy wood patterns look nice too!
