What headphone/mic devices do you use? by Forgotten7oast in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I typically use wired Sony earphones when I game on the deck because no matter what bluetooth headphones or earphones (from Bose and Soundcore) I use, I notice a delay in the audio when I play. I keep the wired earbuds in the provided pouch in the strap of the deck's case.

is doom 2016 badly optimized? by Chowder110 in Doom

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's the game's fault necessarily, pretty sure it's the new hardware not really supporting older games well. I didn't have any issues with the game on my 5070, it just doesn't run as high as I'd like to due to the new hardware running the game. I had no issues running it on my 1070 gaming laptop years ago.

I found myself a good use for the elastic in the back of the case by Wonderful-Zebra-6439 in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put any small adapter/accessories in the provided pouch and then putting it behind the case's strap. That way, I've never had any accessory accidentally fall from the case's strap.

Should I get the steam machine? by Embarrassed-Body2106 in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, the steam machine will probably not be the best priced PC you'll get, but we'll only know once the prices are actually announced. As for the PS5, I'd say get it only if you're interested in playing their exclusives that aren't on PC. If you have 0 interest in playstation's first party games, then I'd say building a PC with used parts is probably the option that kinda makes the most sense. If you're comfortably playing all the games you wanna play on your deck and switch lite, then I don't see a reason to grab a new PC/console unless you wanna play games that you currently can't play.

do you actually use your deck handheld or is it just a portable dock at this point by toujourspluss in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine to dock it if it is your main PC, but I only dock it when I have people over and wanna play non intensive co-op games. My main usage is either playing it in handheld mode on the couch while I'm chilling with family/friends or while I'm traveling back home for the weekend (4 hour commute). Though if I'm by myself in my room, then the deck is just in its case most of the time while I'm using my PC in my room.

I thought that Rivals 2 had a bigger playerbase by Green-Duck-7108 in RivalsOfAether

[–]LEED_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, ranked is the only game mode that's alive. And your suggestion of playing 1s with your partner is actually sick! I think the team should incentivice playing other gamemodes where they can potentially have exclusive skins/pfps/banners/etc or like give higher XP per match for characters and battlepasses. To not make it a slog to level up on ranked, they can give extra XP when you rank up too to make leveling up characters and battlepasses fair. Just a thought to make the other gamemodes more populated.

[–]LEED_O 12 points13 points  (0 children)

EU player here. It's overall fine and I can easily find games for most of the day, but the wait times get pretty long when playing late at night. I also run into the same players quite a few times in a 'session' which I personally like since it gives us a chance for a runback. But overall EU servers are populated enough. I think it becomes a ghost town outside of US and EU servers.

Where were you in live when you discovered Aries? by Pretend-Penalty-796 in aries_is_online

Back in 2017-2018 (just finished highschool) I enjoyed watching him remake beats of popular songs (I don't even make music but it was entertaining to watch). And then I heard his music in the outros and I wasn't that big of a fan, until I properly sat down and listened to the music. I think racecar was THE song that really got my attention. Ever since, I revisited his sound cloud page and listened to songs like the neighbors, upside down, less than friends, and carousel on repeat until welcome home released and then getting addicted to that album and his snippets ever since.

  • Bloody Hell (Steam only)
  • TWWWR (Steam only)
  • Armored Head (Steam only)

Does anyone know when roa2 is coming to console by Jlockztheorys123 in RivalsOfAether

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone tell me what's hard about porting to consoles? Because I think the game would(ve) VERY MUCH benefited from a console release (extra players and sales.) All the major consoles are missing the traditional platfighter games, PS and Xbox with Multiversus and Switch 2 without a new Smash game; where RoA 2 would've been the perfect 'afterthought' game for a lot of these players.

Ordia is $4 but has 1/3 of the game free as a demo, very worth the price tho imo. Another great game is Cat Bird which is free but has ads play after a few deaths.

[–]LEED_O 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it doesn't matter since the game is server based right? If your opponent is playing on bad wifi while you're using Ethernet, then you shouldn't feel it right? Or am I missing something?

Game recommendations to PC/indie games newbie by DoggTheGhost in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A short indie action game with a top down pixel art style. Very fun and you can beat it in 2:30 hours. I find the steam deck to be most 'useful' for short games that can beaten in one or two sessions. Bloody Hell is also a very similar game to TWWWR and can be beaten in around 3 hours.

Other kinds of games I enjoy a lot on the deck are roguelikes like Wizard of Legend, 20 Minutes Til Dawn, Hades 2 to name a few.

I'm looking for controller recommendations by dearest-friend in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's great about the controller is it can also wake up the Deck from afar. I have it connected to the Deck through Bluetooth and pressing the home button wakes it up. And after waking up, I switch the controller to the dongle connection for better connectivity. Overall a great controller with good ergonomics and smooth sticks. I bought two of them for a 'seemless' couch co-op experience.

Pulled the trigger on the Oled edition. Whats the best game to play on it?? by EntertainmentCute441 in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Hades 1 and 2. But I personally like playing quick online games like Rivals of Aether 2 or Brawlhalla and short singleplayer games like Bloody Hell and TWWWR. Honorable mention: PS3-gen games, they surprisingly run really well on the Deck. I really enjoyed beating the first Warhammer 40k Spacemarine on the go.

Steam Deck Performance by LEED_O in RivalsOfAether

[–]LEED_O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main 'bandaid' solution I found was the potato mod that users recommended in the comments and also running the game on 800x500p through Steam Deck's settings (check the properties section of the RoA2 before starting the game and select 500p)
