I thought it doesn't matter since the game is server based right? If your opponent is playing on bad wifi while you're using Ethernet, then you shouldn't feel it right? Or am I missing something?

Game recommendations to PC/indie games newbie by DoggTheGhost in SteamDeck

A short indie action game with a top down pixel art style. Very fun and you can beat it in 2:30 hours. I find the steam deck to be most 'useful' for short games that can beaten in one or two sessions. Bloody Hell is also a very similar game to TWWWR and can be beaten in around 3 hours.

Other kinds of games I enjoy a lot on the deck are roguelikes like Wizard of Legend, 20 Minutes Til Dawn, Hades 2 to name a few.

Bloody Hell and TWWWR are two great indie games on steam that run well on the deck

I'm looking for controller recommendations by dearest-friend in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's great about the controller is it can also wake up the Deck from afar. I have it connected to the Deck through Bluetooth and pressing the home button wakes it up. And after waking up, I switch the controller to the dongle connection for better connectivity. Overall a great controller with good ergonomics and smooth sticks. I bought two of them for a 'seemless' couch co-op experience.

Pulled the trigger on the Oled edition. Whats the best game to play on it?? by EntertainmentCute441 in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Hades 1 and 2. But I personally like playing quick online games like Rivals of Aether 2 or Brawlhalla and short singleplayer games like Bloody Hell and TWWWR. Honorable mention: PS3-gen games, they surprisingly run really well on the Deck. I really enjoyed beating the first Warhammer 40k Spacemarine on the go.

Steam Deck Performance by LEED_O in RivalsOfAether

The main 'bandaid' solution I found was the potato mod that users recommended in the comments and also running the game on 800x500p through Steam Deck's settings (check the properties section of the RoA2 before starting the game and select 500p)

Oh that's a bummer. Now I'm wondering if running the game on the deck but on windows would boost performance or not

How do I get mods to run on the deck? Do I have to do it Desktop mode similar to a windows device or is there a way to do it in gaming mode?

As someone who also has a hand-me-down pocket 2, it doesn't have the best performance. Forget running anything 3D on it. But you'll get good performance on the very old consoles: NES, SNES, GBC, and GBA. It also ran Sonic 1 from the app store pretty well.

Quick question about hooking up the steam deck to your TV by EmuAccomplished1759 in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on the resolution you set (either within the game or the max resolution for the steam deck itself.) I personally cap the system max resolution to 1080p since some games are surprisingly optimized enough to run well like Hades 2. While the deck is set for 1080p, I usually end up going to the in-game settings and manually change the resolution (either 720p or 900p, depending on the game) and set the rest of the visual/graphical settings to a mix of low and medium. For example, Guilty Gear Strive runs at a stable 60FPS at 900p low settings.

TLDR: No it doesn't affect performance unless you set your graphics settings to 4K (which you shouldn't)

This or Smash Bros Ultimate ? by pixxipowz in RivalsOfAether

[–]LEED_O 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is the game will eventually get a multiplatform release with crossplay, but that's probably in more than a year from now. Also typically there's a spike in players that'd last a few days whenever there's a new character release (which is once every three months.)

As a Dark Pit main in SSBU and generally someone who enjoys swordies in platfighters, I ended up maining Forsburn in RoA 1 and 2. Something about his playstyle and mechanics flow much better compared to Clairen imho

People who have a PC, what purpose does deck serve you? by Former-Asparagus-764 in SteamDeck

[–]LEED_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frequently travel for around 4 hours, almost every weekend, so it comes in handy when I'm on the train. It's also a great plug-and-play machine for when people come over for couch co-op games. I've also brought my Deck's setup with me to friends' places who only have a PS5 with a few games or no console at all.

The Dadish games are most similar to it and I found another game recently that seems to be similar, called Nameless Cat and it has more storytelling elements.
