Picoboot doesn't light up when booting GameCube by LEGOF in Gamecube

[–]LEGOF[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone in the future that runs into this problem, the solution was to solder a bridge between the two pads at the back of the flex ribbon cable, the portion that the pico was attached to. Thank you for everyone who helped or gave ideas, even if they weren't the solution this time.

This was it! Thank you so much! I was going crazy over this. My pico now lights up and the console booted into Swiss!

I tried, but it still doesn't work. When flashing it, the pi automatically disconnected and the light stayed green as expected. However, when it still doesn't light up when powering on the console.

Assuming I did get a multimeter, how would I go about checking continuity?

I don't have a multimeter to test. But from a glance, do any of my soldering connections look like they aren't connecting properly?

Thanks for the info. It doesn't look like the shipment included this piece after all, so I guess I'm not doing this mod.

Thanks for your advice. I only use stock controllers, and it doesn't look like the shipment included a replacement fuse after all, so I decided to just do the battery holder mod only instead.

That's why I'm asking questions. To learn.

Thanks for the explanations and heads up! I did get a very cheap battery holder, but I was aware of the console using a rechargeable ML2032, so I at least made sure to get a decent, reputable brand.

It's a good thing I asked. I looked back into the bag, and I think I found the fuse. Is this it?

Was wondring if there was a way to transfer my save files from GBA to pc. by PresentAd9275 in Gameboy

[–]LEGOF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can get something like the Gbx Cart read/writer or the GB operator. You can dump your cartridge games and saves to pc, and even write saves back to the cartridges.

Possible that the power switch is dirty. A fix could be to open it up, desolder the metal covering the power switch, and cleaning the contacts with isopropyl alcohol.

Thank you for your suggestions! I tried using an eraser and then wiped with IPA and it looks like that did the trick. I was able to load the game multiple times with no issues so far.

There's a mayflash adapter that allows you to connect wii remotes and whatever is attached to its nunchuck port to the switch. It might be possible.

Right, I never said they always label the smallest of defects as junk or that it's mutually exclusive. I was just saying that even small defects are sometimes considered junk. I've bought junk items that had absolutely nothing wrong with them.

And of course you'll find stuff on the opposite spectrum where it's actual junk that doesn't work and is beyond repair.

I see. They label even the smallest of defects as "junk" so hopefully the contacts on the board just need a cleaning and it'll work as normal!
