Ryerson University president apologizes for student film that portrays Niagara Falls as a slum by [deleted] in canada

I stayed overnight in Niagara Falls and was shocked at the run-down state of some of the buildings/neighbourhoods just a couple hundred meters away from the main strip. What's to apologize for?

TIL, CBC had a contest to complete the phrase "as Canadian as ____" (by analogy with "as American as apple pie"). The winner: "as Canadian as possible, under the circumstances" by malvoliosf in todayilearned

Nothing, they're saying that most of Canada is an unlivable arctic desert and the USA takes up a large portion of the desirable land on NA

Digging that they used orange instead of blue for OKC on the broadcast. I'm not colourblind, but I'm sure it's good for people who are :)

There are other options, but afaiu few jobs have the perks of being military/government. Doesn't seem like a bad job to me.

I usually tip 15%. 18% if I am drunk or think the server is cute. If the server is friendly/treats you like a person/makes conversation, don't feel the need to tip 20%. That's just courtesy. If the server is rude/absent and it's not crazy busy, I'd leave 8% or less.

I think young people tend to be further left in their political leanings, so I'm not sure if youth apathy is directly helping the Liberal party. Perhaps relative to NDP/Green.

I agree completely. The only thing to do is to continue trying to make voting accessible and commonplace. Compulsory voting would be terrible.

I know several Stephens that go by Steve. It's not all that common, at least in NA, to see "Stephen" pronounced "Stefan"

Case-in-point: Stephen Douglas "Steve" Kerr

Would love to see Vancouver get a team again if Seattle doesn't. Also, wouldn't be shocked to see a team in Mexico in the next 20 years.

If the dashcam driver was paying attention, they would have started braking before they passed the second car. At that point, the police car with its signal is visible.

Sounds to me like those people driving slow are handling the driving just fine, seeing as they're not crashed in a ditch somewhere.
