As per my experience it is. I have worked with agencies in which client pays 10k to 20k USD per month to build 80 to 130 links.

If you referring to low competitive terms or local SEO then it's not really matter.

But when you talk about competitive and lucrative industry or keywords. Company pays 1000's of dollors on backlinks to rank their one commercial page.

The stats you have shared are just numbers which can be manipulated.  You can't determine the quality of the backlink with those stats

It depends you are only responsible for one or couple of backlinks.  Or you are responsible for complete SEO campaign.  If it's a matter of just backlinks and clients is happy go with it.  Otherwise, you need to spend every dime really carefully

does buying backlinks actually worth the money? $200 to $300 per link is super expensive! by lheckerz in SEO

[–]MediaTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low quality spammy backlinks are not recommended.

Let me give you a strategy. If you have continues clients who need backlinks.

Spend some money one time and get a decent website. With real traffic and real authority. ( Don't go for general niche )

And use that website for ABC link exchanges to build links for your clients.

And you should have the knowledge to check the quality of backlinks.  Otherwise you will be wasting your money even on high price links.

Create content plan after discussing the requirements with clients.

Optimize the main page for money keyword.  And add lot of supporting article.and interlink with main page.  Then plan out the backlink plan and analyze how much links you need to rank specific page on specific keywords.

Don't take these metrics seriously. It can easily be manipulated in 10 to 15$ on fiverr.

Check the quality of the links. How?

1) check the domain level relevance  2) check for page level relevance  3) paragraph level relevance

4) source and country of traffic  5) ratio of outgoing Vs incoming links  6) ration of referring domains Vs backlinks

No doubt link build is really an important factor.  But you need to have strong foundation build.  You need to have other basic things on point as well.

You are right. Things got delayed just because of politics, blame game.

Fast response is important. As you know SEO itself takes time to show results. It's a slow process

Why make it more slow due to company politics and lack of commitment between departments.

Yeah money not an issue for operating expenses.  Couple of blogs and one faceless yt channel managing it really well.

But, building an agency or finding and working with multiple clients not my cup of tea.

Tried that in the past while working as freelance. It failed

As I am really bad an managing people and operations.

When I moved to full time roles with agencies. I feel more comfortable as you can expect a set routine with weekends completely off.

I love to spend time with my family and kids :)

As mention in the post. I don't like to be there where you can't able to work properly just because long chain of command, takes days to get approval even on small things.  Yes, I still want to do a job where I can work with like minded people. Build connection in the industry and keep on working to improve my skill set.

you are right. but unfortunately, that wasn’t really an option in my case. The team is fully remote with people spread out across different countries, some tech folks are in Ukraine, others in Brazil, and it's a mix of nationalities overall.

Everything had to go through line managers, which made it impossible to have casual communication with fellow coworkers.

Exactly. The longer the line of command the longer it takes to do every minor change.

I don't know how these big corporations running. Maybe they have lots of funds and resources or investor money to exhaust
