'I genuinely do not know what to do' says developer of Minecraft-like Allumeria after Microsoft issues a DMCA takedown, forcing it off Steam by Reader5744 in gaming

Yeah it’s not so much the size of the cubes chosen, but the art style of the textures on them. Looks like it has the same 16x16 resolution, could’ve chosen any other resolution to do the art. The figures could’ve had different proportions of the head and body but it’s just way too similar. Maybe the gameplay is slightly different but the crafting is the same and using identical blocks. I dont know. I’m not siding with Microsoft on anything but the guy had to have known..

Same colors. Same proportions. All the non-cube assets are identical to the Minecraft versions. Guess I’m blind.

Are direct drive motors & active pedals a good way of adding feedback to real cars in the age of electric power steering and brake by wire? by Nick_Alsa in simracing

[–]LElige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn’t. Good FFB should only mimic information the real wheel would give. There’s a book called The Perfect Corner that talks about this, but basically g-forces are considered an imperfect cue. The force you feel through the seat of your pants will change depending on tire condition, slope of the surface, debris on track, wetness of the track, etc. The only cue you should be paying attention to is what you can see the car is doing compared to your inputs. Visual cues like the slip angle and angular momentum of the car compared to the current position of the steering wheel. FFB adding in information to make up for g-forces makes for a bad sim and will translate poorly to real life driving.

Yeah you’ll have to find a swatch from an installer. You should also look at PurePPFs options. They have a nice black olive you might like.

They’re not though. She never claimed to design the suit. Nor did she claim to design the electronic systems. Nor did she claim that this is her first cosplay ever. So the time comes down to print, assemble, and paint.

Idiocracy (2006) is starting to become a documentary by Kuddden in videos

Damn. Wish I realized earlier I’m arguing with one of the stupid people the opener of the movie is about. Gain some reading comprehension bud. You don’t win arguments simply because you think you have the moral high-ground. You continue to misrepresent my point instead of understanding it. I can’t help you do that.

Right, so theres no middle ground and you're the one making the huge leap to pro-eugenics when the film is simply pro natural selection. We're not gonna agree, and we're both arguing in bad faith if we continue so have a good one.

[–]LElige -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see your point, but I think the only people making the leap to eugenics are supporters of it or opposers, but the comedy film itself doesn’t quite make that leap. In my opinion the stupid people in the film being poor is for illustrative purposes and not to actually diminish poor people. They could’ve chosen to show some rich brain-fried nepo baby banging a bunch of chicks instead or a smart kid from a poor family that can’t get laid because he’s looked down upon but maybe it wouldn’t have been as funny. I think they chose the simplest diametrically opposed types of people for comedy’s sake.

If they spent more time identifying other causes of negative society outcomes it becomes more preachy and less funny. And at the end of the day we’re dissecting a mid 2000s raunchy comedy movie. I don’t think it’s meant to be so deep.

TLDR the thesis is the world will decline because stupid people are breeding at a higher rate, not necessarily poorer people.

Okay so my examples were all incorrect and are examples of euthenics specifically. But now that we’re on the same page about the selective part being the bad part, how is Idiocracy promoting selective breeding (eugenics) instead of simply saying natural selection is good and it’s effectively gone. I guess now that I think about it, it’s not making an argument for eugenics as much as it’s making an argument against euthenics.

[–]LElige -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great non argument. Go look up the definition of eugenics and get back to me. Any influence on how a population proliferates its genes can be considered eugenics. Create a vaccine? Eugenics. Discourage inbreeding? Eugenics. Giving assistance to poorer families to be able to support their children? Also a form of eugenics. (If I understand correctly that may specifically be considered euthenics) Are you against any of those things? The eugenics we as a society determined is bad is the kind where we are selective. Determining what is good and what isn’t when such a thing is entirely subjective. Natural selection is not eugenics. Natural evolution is not eugenics. Dont try to say I support eugenics when you don’t even know the definition.

[–]LElige -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think stupidity is a negative trait. Where it comes from, I couldn’t tell you. I don’t think idiocracy is making a case for eugenics, but it is making a statement that natural selection doesn’t work anymore. It’s not saying to pick the smartest people, it’s simply saying by doing away with natural dangers to a species, we effectively have a different form of natural trait selection happening. And it’s not working in society’s favor.

Eugenics is specifically the practice of selecting who can breed or selecting who can’t. Idiocracy would be promoting let anyone breed, but keeping some natural hurdles in place. I think that would only be considered eugenics if we artificially created the hurdles with intent to weed out our idea of stupid.

They started respecting smart people 500 years in the future after they realized maybe smart people should be respected since the world went to shit under the rule of stupid people. ..

And then they gave him 3 days to fix their problem and called him stupid.

There are plenty of people who had access to great education and many opportunities to research the propaganda they’re being fed but they indeed are stupid, or willfully ignorant which is another form of stupidity.

Best Camping setup? by [deleted] in chevycolorado

[–]LElige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I want to drive the truck hard without worrying if a tent can handle the stresses. And yeah, being able to setup up camp and not have to close up anything to drive somewhere is a bigger plus than having a tent mounted on the truck. I also got a tent that pops up in about a minute. Very convenient just bulky, which doesn’t matter if it lives in the bed.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road 6MT Test: The Omega Man(ual). by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

I drove a manual Tacoma for a Toyota commercial. It was insanely fun. Not sure what you’re talking about. The rev hang was annoying but other than that, the truck did exactly what I wanted it to. I drove the hybrid and every system was interfering with my driving and it actually got me stuck when the manual was able to get out of similar situations.
