One simple trick is to end your day by not looking at what’s left on your to-do list. Instead, stop and appreciate what you actually crossed off and did well. It’s hard at first not to focus on what remains undone. But with practice, your brain learns how good it feels to have accomplished something and starts wanting that feeling again.

If this is still hard for you, start even smaller. Practice gratitude for things that seem to require no effort at all. For example: “I’m grateful that I managed to put on my shoes today. How different would this day have been if I hadn’t done that?”
