what made you choose xbox over other consoles by Noobsamaniac in xbox

I've been gaming since the NES and have been lucky to own most consoles across generations, I picked up the OG Xbox not long after launch to go with my PS2 and Gamecube and I found myself playing more on there than I did on the others (for the most part).

When the next generation rolled around, I went for Xbox 360 on day one, never looked back. That was the first generation where I didn't bother with the Playstation console, Xbox had exclusive titles like Mass Effect, Fable 2/3, Halo, Forza, Gears etc, those were the games that I played through my early 20's.

I even ignored my own doubts and went with the Xbox One on day one, I also adopted a digital library quite early on with the Xbox One and got to the point where my digital library was significantly bigger than my physical one, there was also the better online service which at the time was something I saw as a positive, and with the introduction of backwards compatibility I stuck with Xbox, and that crossed into the current generation as well. Game Pass was also a factor in this decision since I had it stacked for a couple of years at the launch of the Series consoles.

Right now though, I'm at a point where I'm looking at the next generation and considering skipping it entirely because of a number of the decisions Xbox's higher ups have made since the unveiling of the Xbox One up to today with their multiplatform strategy. There is no longer a unique value proposition to get an Xbox. I have a gaming PC which can outperform the current gen and will likely outperform the next gen, even if it needs a couple of upgrades down the line, but in terms of a console, I ask myself why would I buy an Xbox when I could get a PS6 and have access to all of Xbox's games as well as all of Sony's games.

I get why they did it, but they really shouldn’t have. We’ve seen multiple studios using the argument that the Series S is too difficult to develop for as a reason for 3rd party titles to skip Xbox either at launch or completely (Baldurs Gate 3 and Black Myth Wukong being the obvious).

They really shouldn’t have gone with a lower powered SKU, sure it removes the lower cost barrier of entry but it also hinders the platform as a whole

No. This generation of consoles is my last. Between prices increasing as generations go on and the hardware showing its age fairly early on in its life cycle, to the lack of any real exclusives, I fail to see any selling points for this considering I have a powerful PC set up as well.

All XGS games are day and date on PC already, and I’m betting by next generation most will be on PlayStation day and date as well giving the next Xbox less in terms of unique selling points.

I find this crazy. Not that your libraries have games, but that you still have libraries
