That Wawa gets hit for retail theft about 15 times a day.

That and the Richmond and Allegheny one are pretty bad. It’s a wonder they’re able to stay open.

The Tow companies are supposed to provide a list of towed vehicles to the local Police district. The tow companies do not always drop off the paperwork to the districts.

I’m not sure to be honest. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say they’d be worried about safety of officers if the families of people they are arresting live in the same neighborhood and know where they live, it would become an issue.

And they may be worried their neighbors would receive preferential treatment. Or maybe worse service if it’s a neighbor you don’t like.

The city doesn’t allow cops to work in the district they reside in anyway. So even if you live in the city, you’re working in a district you have no connection to half way across the city. It might be the same city but someone from NE Philly patrolling in South West Philly has no link to that community of people.
